Eotech 4x magnifier??

I understand that the Eotech 4x magnifiers were discontinued. Does anyone know why? Thanks.

i understand they were crap. i know they weren’t produced at the same place where the EO 3x’s were/are made

you don’t want more than 3x anyway, FOV is already limited with most magnifiers as it is.

Eotech also discontinued the 3x magnifier and replaced it with one that looks a whole lot like an Aimpoint. Which is a good thing since the original Flip bases sucked due to them moving around.

try to find a good deal on an Aimpoint 3x

its the best

if you can find one for around $400, buy it.

Actually, supposedly they were better glass than the 3X and they were kind of cool – square view to match an EO Tech sight. Also much wider FOV

The reason, as I was told, that the 4x was discontinued was that it was too expensive to make for the price point they wanted to hit with it, and they had a lower profit margin on it. Don’t know if it is true but I heard the same basic story from multiple (as far as I know) unconnected places.

I had also read that the EO 4x were supposed to be better than their 3x. Never used a 3X, but a buddy of mine runs a 4X on his EoTech (pretty effectively based on his match scores!). The glass looked fine to me but I don’t have much trigger time on it.

Personally, I have an Aimpoint 3x and like it.

I just picked up an Eotech 4x mount from Optics Planet online. Got the Mag with Samson FTS mount for $699 shipped. I’m mounting it behind an Eotech 512 on a LWRC M6A2.

The goal was to improve accuracy beyond 100 yards with more emphasis on fast acquisition than pinpoint accuracy. The glass is very clear and the unit seems durable, to soon to tell. The FTS mount is quite nice. Solid seat on the top rail and sets even with the HWS. There is a quick release for the magnifier ( use it as a spotting scope) and the FTS is quick and without play once moved out of the field of sight. Again, we’ll see how it holds up.

The field of view is square like the optic which is cool. The eye relief is limited, I believe at 1.4" so it’s not super fast but if that’s what’s needed flip it and you’re good to go. The reticle clears up a bit at 4x with the focus being the clear 1 moa center dot. I personally like it and find it quicker and more versatile than the Leopold tactical I checked out.

Tomorrow I’ll take it to the range and compare it to to my friends ACOG/Docter setup. This one seems quicker overall with the sacrifice of some accuracy.

This may have been asked but I can’t find an answer. Is Eotech coming out with a 5X magnifier this Spring or Summer? I have the G33 but would like better. Thanks in advance

There’s a thread on it here:

I believe it is yet TBD. I’m sure more info will come after SHOT.
