Does anyone know of an engraver for SBR trust markings in S. FL? I’d prefer to not ship the lower if I can help it.
I’d like to know as well.
Anvil Arms in Lakeland (yeah, I know, not really south Florida) does it. www.anvilarms.com > FAQ Categories > Laser Engraving FAQ
I’m not sure, but I don’t believe that laser engraving is compliant. I know that there is a depth requirement for the lettering which I don’t think is possible to get with the laser.
I contacted Anvil Arms and they told me that their’s was not deep enough to be compliant.
Well, so much for that idea. Thanks for letting us know.
So, any updates.
Will be needing an engraver in the near future…
might want to check a local engraver/trophy company.
I just started looking since I expect to need the service myself soon. This company is in Sarasota, they do the right type of engraving but they don’t mention NFA work. I’ve e-mailed them with the question and if they reply I’ll post the info.

While we are on the subject of engraving. Is it possible to have the item re-anodized after it’s been engraved? Does anyone offer that service i.e. one stop shopping?
Well, as I’m ready to do this step now I have a little more info.
I don’t know about re-anodizing, but the place I’m going to use (http://www.nflgun.com/services.htm) mentioned that “it will be all caps, two lines center justified & blackened”.

Everybody I know down here sends 'em out.
There is a place in Boca called Project Guns LLC (FFL/SOT) that offers engraving now. I just got an e-mail from them stating they are backed up a couple of weeks and the amount charged depends on the lower to be engraved (AR, AK other).
So I’m going with http://www.nflgun.com/index.htm as they charge $37 including return shipping and about a week turnaround.
Do you specify where they put the info? It says he CNCs the info, I would imagine that limits where he can put it.
Yes, he said, “right hand side above the trigger pins”.
He also advised to remove the trigger, hammer, buffer, buffer spring and stock (but not the buffer tube).
works for me.
Thanks, I’m glad he’ll meet your need. I’m afraid he won’t work for me, I’m looking for a more discreet location.
Yeah I understand… It’s just not that big a deal to me.
Do yourself a favor and don’t go to a engraver/trophy company. I did and I hate the engraving they did.
Every time I look at or shoot my SBR it bothers me. It’s ugly.
I’ve checked on getting it fixed but have been told it would be better to leave it alone. ![]()
Seems it might be best to have it done as soon as I get the lower, before adding any parts. ![]()
