Enemies foreign and domestic

I sure am glad this fine warrior is at the forefront of keeping us secure from our enemies.

I wonder if this is what George Orwell meant when he said: “People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf”.

Some of our left-leaning members will be along shortly to snarkily comment about distant Christian transgressions and how Muslims really aren’t like you suggest. You know, the Moral Equivalency bullshit.

In 3…2…1…

LOL. No shit, they’ve infested this sanctuary too, eh?

Savages that do not respond to anything but the sword.

What? I was convinced that they just need jobs courtesy of the American taxpayer. It’s all about “legitimate economic grievances”, bro.

In the classic line: sic vis pacem para bellum

Or in other words. Contrary to what your teacher told you, sometimes, violence is the only answer.

Considering the majority of bombing runs against ISIS are being conducted by Muslim pilots from Muslim countries in (former US) Muslims fighter jets, I fail to see your point.

Additionally, Christian transgressions and violence are really not so distant. Need we discuss the 9 million deaths during the Great War that, with the exception of one empire, was perpetrated exclusively by Christians?

We could also bring up the holocaust - which was conducted and made possible almost exclusively by German Catholics - but I will give them a “pass” because the leadership was not Christian.

Well, I rest my case. Euro, you took the bait hook, line, and sinker!

I haven’t read the Quran, but Christianity is a peaceful religion. “Christian extremists” that are terrorists are not “christian” at all and do not follow the Bible. Only justified violence is for defense.

Just because someone claims something does not make it true. Hitler could have claimed to be christian, but he was not like Jesus at all. As I understand, Christian means “Christ like”.

What a bunch of bullshit. You obviously haven’t read your own book, that trash is filled with the opposite of “peaceful”.

Which “Book” are you referring to?

lets talk about the 100 million the anti Christian leaders have murdered in the last 100 years then !

sorry the Holocaust was not done by Catholics !!! Nazis hated Christianity and all religions !

WWI was not a Christian war but many were Christians that were in the war and had some bearing but was not done in the name of Christ as a war for him ? so to call it a Christian war is really trying to push that ? but then again your ignorance of Nazi holocaust proves you don’t know history so I will give you a pass

Honu, Try not to be insulting. I said nothing to you personally. We can all disagree without getting offensive toward one another.

I just refuse to believe the religion that allowed the Dhimmi to live peacefully in its area of influence while Christians were literally burning Jews and Muslims alive after expelling them from all of Europe is violent today not due to the meddling of colonial powers but because of some inherent incompatibility with Western culture.

Wow, relax. No need to get emotional.

Have you read it? Do you understand the difference between the old and new testaments? If so, explain where Jesus condones violence.

Dude, come forward out of the Middle Ages for this discussion of current events, okay? The only secular and democratically elected Muslim country today (some may be one or the other but not both) is Turkey. That’s the best you get with Islam as a predominant religion in a given country. That should say something, namely that it does NOT appear to be compatible on a large scale with Western culture. They make up over 23% of the world’s population, or about 1.5 billion people. You’d think statistically with that many of them there would be more Turkeys, but alas there isn’t.

To read the part I bolded in your post you seem to be espousing that 9-11 was our fault, right? 'Cause after all of our “colonial meddling” who could blame them, right?

I’m just trying to break up the debate on this forum which always follows the same line:

A) Muslims are all terrorists.
B) If you disagree with A, you’re a hippy liberal without a clue.

I used to think exactly like most of M4C. I’ve done research, analyzed the situation, and no longer believe that Islam is the answer to why the Middle East is so depraved.

If I were poor and uneducated, and China were to setup military bases in Cuba so they could blow up my buddies and parents and family in drone strikes I might be susceptible to some Methodist Preachers words about rising up against the enemy. Does that make Methodism a fanatical religion of violence?

After all, Jesus said: And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough. (Luke 22:35-38)

And “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.”

Or is it more likely that I am just susceptible to belonging given the circumstances and religion offers me that while benefiting those who stand to benefit from an insurgency against china?

If I were a Muslim Jordanian fighter pilot running sorties against ISIS daily, I might be a little pissed at the implication that I am somehow the same as them.

Funny how the “Islam” problem never became a problem until oil money started messing up the balance of power between Sunni and Shiite. The timing can’t be a coincidence…

Could you PM me your reference for that factoid. Germany was about 75% Protestant up until the annexation of Austria which brought it closer to 50:50. However, I do not recall any credible accusations that the Catholic Church or any of its leadership conspired with the Nazis to affect the Holocost. Nor have I seen a report suggesting that the prominent concentration camps were managed by Catholics.

I don’t recall anyone saying or implying that. However, while certainly all Muslims aren’t terrorists, just as assuredly the vast freaking majority of terrorists today ARE Muslim.

As far as your Cuba analogy, the uneducated part is key. If China was setting up those bases because we as a nation, or elements we directly support and give haven to, had conducted terrorist attacks in their own country and killed thousands then I’d have to say they would be justified. However, the ignorant f**k who doesn’t see the bigger picture (for whatever reason) will no doubt see China as the bad guy. I cannot offer an answer as we cannot educate the world, but if we suddenly have more new enemies as a result of them not seeing the bigger picture then oh well, they can die too.

My wife and I used to run or jog where we formerly lived. There was a huge Rottweiler that would come out menacingly at us when we went by. Now, we were on a public street and therefore had a right to be there and the idiot didn’t restrain his dog. I got tired of it and took my .357 revolver in my fanny pack one day. My wife, ever the animal-lover, was concerned I might actually use it. She said “You don’t know how that dog was raised, he could’ve been beat”. I told her I didn’t care what his upbringing was and that it was the here-and-now of possibly getting bit that I was concerned with. See where I’m going with this? You can’t protect all the dogs in the world from bad conditions but you nonetheless don’t want bit.

(FYI, I didn’t end up having to shoot it, when the dog came out I pulled the pistol out and miraculously the owner suddenly called him, and apparently put in an invisible fence after that).

Quit it. You’re mucking up the Moral Equivalency argument!

And don’t forget the 1.5 million Armenian Christians killed by the ottoman turks at the turn of the century.
