As the title says, this thread is to discuss everyone’s preferences and favorites for end plates and why. What you find works, what you find doesn’t, and what you think is best in your experience.
My own experience is limited, but I’ve used a dual/ambi end plate with regular slots for a sling, one with holes for a hook type mount, a QD swivel end plate, and most recently an ASAP plate.
I’ve found the ASAP the best for a single point sling, the slot type best for a two point, and overall was not too thrilled with the QD end plate as it hung up and got caught.
Recently I’ve come across an end plate from a company called “IKickHippies” called a SLAP plate. Considering trying it, anyone with experience with this product care to give a review or information on how it performs?
I had been using a ASAP, recently have been using a Noveske QD and definitely prefer that. For use wtith a single-point sling (MS-2) I just attach an oversize QD swivel, but the more I used the MS-2, the more uncomfortable it was. Padded VTAC with permanently attached QD swivels now.
My Daniel came with the QD. Allows me to switch between dominate and non-dominate hand quickly.
I had a magpul asap, got annoyed by the ring when the sling wasn’t attached. I then switched over to noveske since it thinner in profile compared to the daniel defense. I have noveske end plates on all my rifles now.
I’ve tried different types of plates with the hook loops on one or both sides, but found that they interfere with my operation of the safety. The Magpul ASAP works great, but is noisy. I decided to try making a few of my own and this is the model I settled on. I have made several of them with standard endplates and wire loops. Just drilled the holes, inserted the loops and weld in place on the inside. The 45 degree position of the loops is what I found to be ideal for me using HK hooks.
Im currently running the GG&G endplate with the rectangular sling attachment which is designed like DD’s CAR Burnsed Loop. Very happy with it quality-wise. Very well machined and the locking tab fits perfectly into my RE’s channel. Functionally, it can and did snag during transitions but Ive learned to work around it.
The simplicity of the SLAP does appeal to me but Im waiting to read more about it before considering it for other builds. – The locking tab particularly.
THere’s a short discussion on it in the thread below.

I’ve been using the ASAP on everything for about a year and love it after I figured out how to make it silent and flexible. You need a modified castle nut wrench to work around it though.
Unless you are a Ninja I wouldn’t be overly concerned about the noise. I doubt that anyone will hear it when one considers all the ambient noise that is much louder.
Agreed. The first time after I installed the ASAP and was looking at my AR I noticed the clanking and jingling of the metal ring. At first i was a bit annoyed by it and disliked the rattling, but I notice all of the times that I shoot without a sling it hasn’t once been noticeable.
I don’t view the noise as a tactical problem, just a personal preference/annoyance.
I’m OCD I suppose.
I have the SLAP on my guns. This plate is solid and offers an extremely versatile attachment point.

Will be installing a Noveske QD endplate this week on the 14.5 BCM for my Wilderness single-point sling.
I think the Noveske endplate is best in class. Considering it takes up no more bulk than a standard endplate, these should be standard.
meh… the SLAP is a good idea but poor execution. if all you got is $20…
it is stamped out of sheet metal to meet a price point but the square edges chew up my snaphook and cause problems with how it moves on the ring portion.
I have one staked on a lower and regret staking it there as I would like to replace it with something that works better. I may take a file and try to salvage it but right now, I don’t use it at all…
My favorite is the Noveske endplate. It is steel and very thin compared to the Daniel Defense, which is aluminum and thicker.
I’ve also used the Tactical Link QD clamp-on mount, and while it works ok, after extensive use they seem to wear more than the others and the QD swivels stick and are more difficult to remove than with other mounts. Obviously this is not an endplate, but just speaking in terms of QD mounts at that position on the gun. I will be mounting a Tangodown PR4 soon to another gun, which hopefully will work as well as the two aforementioned endplates.

I generally prefer the ASAP, but I’ve been fooling with a Troy OEM M4 plate for a week or so on a carbine that’s set up all QD instead of my usual HK snap hooks. So far, so good - but I’m not planning on converting others.
i just recently switched to the ASAP and i am really liking it, but the SLAP looks pretty interesting though.
I also like the Dieter, especially on my MK18. I prefer it to the ASAP, but run the ASAP on my 14.5" carbine. YMMV and all that.
