Im looking to get an ectronic lock for my house to allow my kids into the house after school.
Anyone know good ones or ones that I should avoid?

Have had good experience with Schlage electronic locks. Residential personally, and commercial at work.
When you are ready to go full PIV card, server based, access control keep me in mind. ![]()
I don’t use them (and I do some locksmithing, LOL!) but my neighbors have had good luck w/ Schlage residence eLocks too. Definitely avoid Kwikset and any lesser brand …
I believe we have Schlage at work. They’re mostly trouble free.
I do think it’s funny our shit heel management are so concerned about their own safety. Gotta have electronic locks on the doors! When it was pointed out the only people who want to harm them are employees who already the have damn code they didn’t care for that.
We have Schlages on our VRBO houses. They have been flawless for two years even down to -35F temps.
I use these on my gun room door to keep the kids and wife out.
Is C-grunt gathering intel on which locks he has to crack to break into our houses… hmmmmmm…
Another plus for Schlage. Use the FE595 on the FD and at home.

Most elocks are decent now days. Some integrate further with Alexa and Google home along with other systems like alarm.com and Resideo total connect. It depends on what functionality you want/need. Look at reviews online and see the pros and cons and get what suits you.
After 15 yards of LE work ive realized you can have the coolest locks out there but a brick still goes through a window.
Am I the only one worried about having home security connected to the internet?
Nope! I won’t have anything to do with Alexa or Google or Ring etc being internet based.
We have the Schlage locks at work and they are pretty much trouble free. Main issue is the batteries and a short lifespan. Other than that they are fine.
Nope…I won’t do it and electronic security is my current profession. I just put it out there cuz some people like it.
Schlage is the industry standard. Almost everything I specify that is hardware related is Alligion, the parent company to Schlage, Von Duprin, Falcon, Ives etc.
I have a Schlage digital lock on my the door leading into the house from the garage but a Simply Safe lock on my front door. It is tied into the overall alarm system so I can open and close it from anywhere. Im sure you will say it can be hacked, but so can just about anything else at this point. I find it convenient because I can let my friends in when we are away so they can check in on the cat. I see them on the camera, open the door for them, they feed my cat, and when the leave the lock closes on it’s own an alarm goes back on.
Yea, you cant go wrong with Allegion…hardware wise.
Don’t even get me started on actual security vs the illusion of security. I could literally be typing for a month. ![]()
ETA: I could probably get Alex rolling out of his chair with some of the stuff I’ve been directed to do. Not sure who else would get it.
Yup…it’s actually retarded.
