Anyone have anything good or bad to say about the EGW one piece scope mount for the Remy 700 with 20 Moa elevation.Looking to get one for my Rem 700 308.I realize its not a Badger or Nightforce just wanting to know if they are good or not.Thanks

EGW is good to go. I ran the same mount on my 308 savage for a few years. No issues.
I installed one on the Savage I use for 1,000 yard matches and it does the job.
Me, too… My Savage came with an EGW mount (AFAIK), and it seems to work fine.
If it’s in-spec, it’s in-spec… if not, well, then it’s not.
Do the EGW bases have an intergral recoil lug or no? I recommend: Seekins, Murphy Precison, Near Manufacturing, Ken Farrell, NF, Badger, USO, etc.
I have no first hand experience with EGW… but I’ve read too many comments about out-of-spec EGW Rails for me to ever feel comfortable with giving them a go.

Huh? It’s a section of rail that bolts to the top of the receiver… Where would there be a recoil lug?

At the risk of sounding like a bottom-feeder, machining a rail and making it fit isn’t rocket surgery…
Anyway, my only complaint about the rail that came attached to my Savage is that somebody at Savage boogered up the hex heads pretty badly.
It takes the Load off of the Screws, that way you’re not relying on their shear strength during recoil.
EGW makes no mention of if they have Integral Recoil Lugs or not… they also don’t mention if their Screws that are included are Grade 8 or not.
How good is their QC? How about their Metallurgy?
I never buy budget Hardware, especially when it comes to things that require precision. That’s one potential variable u can easily lessen or eliminate altogether.
The recoil lug seems like a good idea… I’ll have to take a look at mine.
Again, I hate sounding like a bottom feeder, but I really don’t think the grade of the hardware or the metalurgy matters all that much… If it fits, and it’s straight, and it doesn’t break, then it really is good enough for me.
Just depends on your application, I guess. If it’s an OEM rifle with a <$1,000 optic, then an EGW is fine. I know from experience.
If you plan on building up eventually, the ~$100 increase from EGW to Badger is worth it.
Yes, mine is connecting a $500 Savage with a $400 Nikon (and $25 Warne rings). It works well…
I suppose perhaps recoil amount is one reason to go with something beefier? If so, at what level is that considered to start to be in play? 300 Win Mag?

Back on topic, the EGW on my 700 in .308 has no problem holding zero and sub .5MOA groups. I do want to swap out the Warne rings for something a little more robust though.

Yes, my Savage shoots less than 1moa out to 300yds, too… EGW + Warne + Nikon = set it and forget it. I’m focused on handloading, not worrying about my scope, mount, or rings.
Have you had an issue with the Warne rings, or are you just fiddling?
No issues with holding zero. I’m just not crazy about the rings having the vertical split because if you need to remove scope you not only lose zero (normal) but you also have to re-level and reset eye relief. Not that I go around pulling my scope off often…but OCD…ya know.
So you’re going to change the rings and re-level and reset eye relief and reset zero, so that if you need to pull the scope off, then you won’t need to do all those things?

Really, I have Warne rings on my M14 and on my AR, but those have separate mounts/risers, so it’s easy to take the scopes on/off. I don’t intend to remove the scopes from my bolt guns…
Haha. Yes, I know. To be honest I haven’t leveled and re-zeroed since pulling it all apart last time to bed the recoil lug so I’m not really behind the 8-ball. Part of the reason I want to swap rings now and not later.
