I just bought an Eberlestock Destroyer (V69) backpack.
I bought a Camelbak Storm, to go with it, but it won’t fit in the side hydration pockets, in the pack. It won’t fit in the main compartment either, without sticking up over the storm collar. And it requires off loading your gear, to top off the water.
Anyone have a Destroyer, and knows what size hydration bladder, will fit the pockets?
Eberlestock sells “Source” brand bladders in 2, and 3 liter sizes, but they don’t have the insulated tube the Camelbak’s have.
Seems well constructed, haven’t had in in the field, yet. Have to get the hydration issue sorted out first, then shake down trials.
Just curious what your thoughts are on this pack so far.
I like it, so far. Have only done a few short hikes with it. Definitely, an improvement over my ALICE.
I love that the padded hip belt takes all the weight off of your back.
The price is steep maybe too steep. I want a bigger bag though…was kinda thinking about IBLE or Kelty Falcon 4000. I’ve really been eyeballing this http://www.rei.com/product/809761/rei-crestrail-70-pack but it doesn’t have any expansion capabilities.
I kind of wish I had gone with the Battleship, but it seems to work for me.
I waited to pull the trigger, until I found place offering a Christmas sale.
Sorry, yes Battleship for the size. I got everything I needed in the Destroyer, if I had to add a lot of bulky cold weather gear, I would need something a little bigger.
- As an FYI - on the Destroyer the 2 liter hydration pouches, fit in the side pockets, but they are very snug. A 2 liter will fit in the internal pouch. The internal pouch will also take a 3 liter hydration pouch, but the 3 liter will stick up above the storm collar. (you won’t see it with the pack closed)
