I would guess that it’s been submitted if you got an email stating that payment has been made, but technically there is another step after paying. Once payment is made then the form has to be digitally signed and submitted.
He forwarded me the confirmation email regarding payment last Friday. At the time he said it kicked him off right after he submitted payment…but then he got the payment confirmation.
He said there was another step to finalize that he’d log back onto.
I asked Friday afternoon, this weekend, and this morning again if it was 100% b/c I was under the impression that there was the last step. I am also under the impression that once you digitally sign and submit another email confirmation is also sent?
Once it’s submitted it will show as submitted/in process when he logs in. And yes he should have gotten an email notification that the form had been submitted and had changed to submitted/in process.
At least that’s how it worked when I e-filed a form 1. I can only ass-u-me it’s the same when a dealer e-files a form 4 on your behalf.
Ass-u-me is correct. I’m wanting to trust the guy but I want a confirmation that it’s really 100%. Considering this e file system is so fubard though who knows.
Definitely another step (and another email) after paying. The actual submission.
If you have the SN, you can call the ATF to verify it was submitted. If it’s a decent dealer, they should be able to provide you the confirmation that it’s in a SUBMITTED/IN PROCESS status now.
Depending on who answers, they may be a little snippy about you calling about an eForm.
If they question why, just explain your dealer only sent you the payment confirmation, and you wanted to verify it was actually submitted. No big deal.
Yeah the payment confirmation doesn’t necessarily mean the form was filed, you’ll have to call and check or have the dealer confirm that your form4 shows under his “submitted” list in eForms.
Spoke with the ATF branch at the above noted phone number and I’m all set. He said it should be back in July. Encouraging. Now to get my SBR e file done.
It’ll be interesting to see if July happens. They’re over 130 days now…and it’s been getting longer instead of shorter. I’d hope you see it by the end of August. There’s just been a massive increase of submissions after the first ones came back in 90 days or so.
