Any info on these? I got some Brenneke but might want to try these. The Hexolit32 and Dupo28 look badass.
I have no direct experience, but I’ve eyeballed these before.
Based on the literature, it seems like they would make a good dangerous game slug, or penetrating defense slug. My understanding is most slugs are soft enough not to be optimal in those roles so you want a hardened option. OTOH, maybe they are too light.
My shotgun isn’t my goto, but my defensive load out is Federal 132-1B, with a few hardened slugs in the saddle. In my case, Dixie Slugs IXL-DGS.

Stick with Brenekke special forces short magnums, or the special forces maximum barrier penetration. They are proven penetrating slugs, and from everything I have found you will not find a slug that will out penetrate the Brenekke slugs designed for penetrating barriers. I would like to see the dixie slug go head to head with the maximum barrier slugs. I can tell you that you dont want to fire more than a couple of each unless your life is on the line. The recoil is flat out painful. The impact on the wallet is almost as bad. The maximum barrier are around 4 bucks per shot.
If you go to the Brenekke website they have a pdf that shows the maximum barrier penetrating both sides of an engine block, a very large rotor, and a level 2a vest from 7 yards I believe. Any father than that it wont defeat the vest.
It may not defeat the ballistic vest, but my supposition is the blunt trauma would be fierce. I foggily recall a fatal 45-70 shot to a police officer where the vest stopped the bullet but the trauma was fatal.
I can’t imagine any slug is going to be very effective against armor. Just too big, too slow.
I think the application is more walls, car doors and other common barriers.

The Brenekke maximum barrier is 1 3/8 oz at 1650, and 3500 foot lbs of energy. I wouldn’t depend on if for piercing any vest, but I is the only one I have seen documentation that it will. The documentation was done by Brenekke so it is not bias. If you go to the Brenekke website check out the literature they have on all there slugs. They have a large pdf that shows the performance of most of there slugs compared to others.
My unqualified opinion is that the target will not distinguish between a solid or a duplex slug. Duplex loads have come and gone many times, but they never catch on. I seriously doubt that the duplex’s accuracy will continue to equal the solid beyond 30 yards or so. Duplex and dispersal are almost synonyms in a bullet discussion. I would like to have some, though.
I think OP isn’t talking about duplex in the sense of multi-projectile slugs, but rather the solid steel and expanding steel slugs offered by a company called DDuplex.

I have a small stash of Hexolit32s I bought years ago when AIM was selling them for pretty cheap. I had planned to test a few in water jugs but never got around to it.
Specifically looking at the ones that are designed to throw the 7(?) petals upon impact. I feel buckshot would do the job but having that core bit left over for penetration peeks my interest.
What is your objective in considering this ammunition?
