Dummy cording the vltor battery caps

Dummy cording the caps this way avoids drilling “into” the tube and sacrificing its water resistance.

Materials:
2mm perlon cord (thin paracord)
Small drills bits; 3/32" 7/64" (+/-) something in that range.

You want to drill the paddles on the vltor caps. Use the smallest drill bit that still allows you to thread the cord through the hole. Be sure to pick the area in the paddle that has the most material around your hole. You don’t want to weaken it with an unnecessarily large hole.

The cord should be kept as short as possible while still allowing the cap to be removed (trial and error applies here)

That’s a nice little tip, thanks for sharing!

Thanks.

Also for Vltor owners, using a ziptie to secure the rubber buttpad is a great tip.

Nice tip! I almost lost one in a class. I run my stock in tight though, and luckily they didn’t fall off.

Military Morons have had a similar setup documented on their site for a while.

Yeah, I just looked at his. Different setup with a different purpose in mind.

Outstanding!

Thank you for sharing Durka.

I use the MM method from his website, but I think I will try this method on my next VLTOR. Thanks Durka!

Durka, I would love to see the rest of your rifle. I love guns that have been painted and well used.

One of the AZ guys lost one at the 10-8 class this weekend.

Hey can we sticky this thread?

Consider it done.

Never even thought of it? might try it
Thanks

Nice glass!

Thanks for sharing! We need a place to have TIPS like this always available… maybe a new “TIPS & TRICKS” section?

A project I finally got around to. Did this mod to two of my rifles today. Very easy. I used some of the cord guts from 550 line.

where are the pics? i need pics, or i will drill everything

durka accidently deleted the pictures. If someone wants to take some of their modified Vltor let me know.
