Gee, I signed up two years ago and I’m just making my first post! Been doing a lot of reading around the forums, I guess I never noticed I hadn’t posted anything lol!
Anyway, I just picked up a DSA complete upper receiver as part of a trade. The upper is a flat top and on the front of the receiver is marked “DSA”. The upper has a 16 inch M4 style barrel and a M16/M4 FA bolt and carrier group. The guy I got it from said he thought the barrel was 1/9 Chrome Moly.
I know nothing about DSA, can anyone school me on quality? Is it worth using on a build?
I was thinking about throwing a spare Daniel Defense Mk18 RIS II rail I had laying around, a set of Troy Battle sights, and a Troy Lo-Pro gas block and calling it a day. Just something to plink with really I have all the parts but the gas block and my local dealer has the gas blocks for $39.99 in-stock. I was saving the above parts for a LMT or RRA I was going to pick up, I just never did.
i have a couple of them, a carbine, and a fluted midlength. the barrels are made by T/C, and have been very reliable for me. they also ejoy a good reputation for reliability on other gun sites, with most reporting good accuracy. my opinion is they are real good for the money, with the 1/9 rifling being the most thing dis-liked about them. but, my S&W 15A has a 1/9 twist, and a T/C barrel, and i like it also.
I’ve been an FAL guy for 10 years or so and have built some from their parts. Current production QC is good - wasn’t the case several years ago. They are at the top of the FAL world and as such haven’t quite figured out perfect customer service due to volume, but are improving. Seems like the have strived to keep costs down for budget builds on their AR line. They are always open to suggestions.
