I saw J&G has the Draco back in stock for 330 + shipping & Transfer. I have been kicking around the idea of getting one and putting a side folding stock on it.
I am curious if anyone out there has any experience doing that. I have shopped around on different forums and there are a few opinions on the best way to go about this. I am wondering if anyone had first hand experience doing this?
No experience whatsoever, but it seems like most drill and tap for an ACE setup. The only reason I know that is that I’ve read every thread on the net about ACE stocks as I went about researching my Saiga conversion. They’re taking some serious hating over at the Saiga forum but I love my ACE folder with internal receiver block setup.
The other obvious option would be to tear out the rear trunion and replace it with whatever you want. I would send it off for that if it were me, but I don’t have a machine shop and have to do my 'smithing with a 3 foot tall drill press and a dremel.
I bought a Draco a few months ago for just this purpose. Initially, I wanted to put an underfolder on it with the intent of making a sub-$500 SBR. The more I thought about it, though, the nicer I wanted to make it. So I bought a triangle sidefolder. Then I noticed that it’s got a different rivet pattern than the Draco’s receiver.
So now I’m looking at either having the current receiver cut and re-drilled for the new stock, or buying a ‘Khyber Pass’-style stripped receiver and having the parts transplanted. Either way, it won’t come out to be a sub-$500 pseudo-Krink…
