I have poked around for a while, read quite a bit on this subject but can not find the answer.
Are DPMS springs such as detent springs, bolt catch spring, and buffer retainer spring reliable? I built an AR-15 last week that used a DPMS lower parts kit, and after reading about reliability I do not know what to do.
The trigger group and buffer spring I assume are fine as they are not from DPMS.

I read a lot about the same subject after I assembled my lower. It lead me to replace everything except the springs that were already in the gun (dpms with a geissele trigger).
Now that lower is going to be a dedicated .22 and im not bothering replacing them, but this time around I grabbed a couple colt lpks minus fcg for my next builds.
I don’t know that they aren’t “good enough” but from reading here I will be playing it safe from now on. Considering ill probably never use the fcg the colt kit or one from grant is just a good peace of mind.
For the record mine all worked fine but some guys here shoot more in a month than info in a year.

what is this particular rifle’s primary function for you? if it’s your primary, have this one for home defense etc. then i would go with another kit for peace of mind. if it’s a plinker and not primary anything, i’d run it the way it is. i’ve known a few people with a complete dpms rifle (none that used them a lot) that haven’t had any troubles with their low round counts. even then, if you don’t feel confident with it, a g&r lower parts kit isn’t that expensive.

I will acquire springs to replace what I have on the gun now.
The trigger is Geissele and the buffer/spring is Colt. Grip is Magpul.
but the bolt hold open, buffer retainer, and magazine latch are DPMS.
It is a primary weapon, first line of self defense.
My lower was put together with the Brownells ALG lower parts kit. They use DPMS small parts. The only thing I am concerned about is the bolt catch and the safety and probably will change them out soon. I have changed out the trigger with a Geisselle SSA since then so my pins are good to go. The pins on my LPK were Geisselle pins to begin with so those were fine.
I don’t believe the other small parts in the DPMS LPK will be a problem. My RE is DPMS as well and I am not concerned with it at all.
I have had trouble with DPMS pin sizes. Didn’t have trouble with the springs. But my lack of trouble with them doesn’t mean they are good. DPMS has either a huge QC problem, or they just don’t give a flip about specifications. That makes me not have faith in any of their products, whether pins, springs or whatever. So for peace of mind, I got rid of my DPMS LPKs (courtesy of the garbage truck) and installed GandR LPKs.
