DPMS Oracle gas block size??? Anybody know?

Got a good friend wanting to free-float his barrel on his Oracle. He usually wants me to do this kind of work for him. He’s getting a FF hand guard for Christmas and I need to know what size gas block I’m going to have to order for him to complete this project.

Thanks in advance with your replies!

It uses a standard .750 gas block.

It’s real simple. If it is a lightweight barrel (it uses a .625 block) and if it’s a standard profile then it uses a .750.

Well, it’s not as simple as it seems…the Oracle barrel is advertised (from their website) as having a lightweight barrel, but it has a .750" gas block. There are so many configurations of AR barrels that nothing is certain anymore. It’s best to measure, which I had my friend do when he got home from work yesterday. But I still appreciate the replies.

Here’s the dope from DPMS: http://www.dpmsinc.com/556-ORACLE_ep_135-1.html

Goog deal. I went by what was advertised on Midwayusa but it’s always best to know for sure.

Not all companies use generic barrel profiles, so it’s not real simple.

I suppose that’s just another reason to stay away from DPMS. In any case it should be pretty apparent when you look at the area around whatever is there now. Unless they reinvented the wheel with a special gas block.

Except in this case…my friend lives 55 miles from my house, he was at work and couldn’t measure anything, and I wanted to order the gas block to get the process started. I thought I’d just ask on here for a quick reply so I could go ahead and get a gas block ordered and headed this way.

It WOULD have been apparent if I would have had his rifle in my hands.

A lightweight barrel that uses the more common .750 gas block? That’s a better profile than a government profile which is literally optimized for no one.

DPMS “M4” barrels aren’t so M4 either. Had a customer wanting me to install a KAC RAS rail on his DPMS…had to send to the bbl out to get it reprofiled behind the gas block seat.

Yep. It’s fatter
