Im looking to build #2 in an SPR-ish config. Anyone use one of these barrels? I know of WOA, Rainier Arms, and some of the more dependale MFGs, but have been seeing these around for a price less than $200. I’m leaning towards using a 13" Troy TRX Battle Rail with CMMG upper. If anyone has used this barrel, what forearm are you using, and what issues have you run into? Thanks!
No doubt for good reason…![]()
If you’re assembling the rifle yourself and can assure that the chamber dimensions are suitable, I’m sure it will be fine for most “SASS” type applications. By that I mean you will bench/sandbag the rifle and fire less than a couple hundred rounds of relatively low pressure rounds per session.
You can do significantly better for an insignificantly larger sum of money.
Thanks for weighing in! Any recommendations?
Sorry for the delay. You’re on the right track with your original list of trusted names. When you think about it, the barrel is the heart of the whole thing, if an extra one or two hundred dollars should be spent anywhere it’s right there.

Some reported QC issues with the SASS but for the money I think they’re a good optoin, especially for a tackdriver at the range. Check the muzle threads, check the headspace and then go have fun. Two friends have used them and they definitely have a CDI factor. For an 18" barrel they’re not super heavy and they look really good using a rifle length FF tube and lopro block.
Be advised - they require a mid-length gas tube.
thopkins22/ Polymerhead… Thanks for the info! CDI? Can you define the acronym? Thanks
