DPMS G2 MK12

Anybody with any hands on time with the G2 MK12? I’ve been thinking about a G2 recon but this looks interesting and 18" is still pretty handy.

I really want to get one of these to tinker with…badly .

Actually , I want two …a straight , KISS, 16" carbine to pretty much leave alone , and another to convert to either 6.5 Creedmore or 7mm Rem SAUM .

(yeah…I know…shit in one hand and hope in the other…)

Im curious at the different components used to lighten this rifle and how it would react with heavy barrels and magnum loads . I wonder if AR Performance will be offering any reworked/redesigned parts ?

I haven’t heard of or seen any DPMS G2 MK12. Any links/pics of this?

I am confused. The description says .308 but I am pretty sure the picture is of a 5.56/.223 AR-15.
I know the “MK12” model was offered in both the previous gen DPMS .308 guns and their standard AR-15 line, but I have seen nothing regarding the newer generation G2 ones.

That is not the G2. It is their regular .308 seen here:

They do make several models of the GII but not a MK12. Closest i s the SASS.

Bottem of the page on Bud’s says “pictures may not be actual item” .

That’s what I get for looking at shit on my phone. Saw the pic and knew it wasn’t a lr308 so ASSumed it was a G2.
Still unsure on rolling the dice on dpms g2 pattern. Playing with the recon in the lgs makes me want to get one and throw a ssa and midwest ss tube on and have a very light and reportedly accurate 308.

I bought a G2 SASS last June after getting pretty excited about all of the things I’d read about them and I have been extremely happy with it so far. I put a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x scope on it, put in a Geissele SSA-E trigger, a Syrac Ordnance adjustable gas block and a Magpul MOE+ grip (my go to grip on all my ARs) and I just replaced the heavy ass quad rail with a lightweight keymod rail from Samson. I went with the SASS model because I wanted the fluted 18" barrel for shooting medium to long range (200-600 yards) and it came with a Harris bi-pod and Magpul MBUS sights.

I’ve got about 450 rounds through it now and it’s proven to be pretty damn accurate. With hand loads (168 & 175 gr SMKs) or factory FGMM (168 & 175) it’s a sub MOA 308 AR which I think is pretty amazing. I have a bunch of 168 and 175 gr PPU Match ammo that also shoots a hair under MOA but as with most inexpensive ammo you sometimes get a flyer or two every 10 or 20 rounds that sometimes skews the results. Regardless, all the good quality stuff I’ve put through this rifle has performed very well. It took about 150-200 rounds for the barrel to settle in and I still feel like it continued to get more accurate even up to this point.

I think DPMS has got a winner of a platform with the G2. JoePike, If you are considering one, just do it. You’re absolutely right…throw that Geissele and MI rail on it and you WILL have a very light weight and accurate 308 AR.

Hope this helps.

Edit - I just realized this is my first post here…Been lurking and reading here for quite a while!

Have you had any function issues?

No, not at all. I was getting hit in the face with my brass as I’m a lefty but the adjustable gas block and some tuning corrected that. It’s been flawless so far.

Thanks.
