DPMS/ Bushmaster...tryin to fit in???

I guess these guys wanna join the club.

They even going with Magpul!

.

They are like the Chinese of American Arms makers.
Making a facsimile of something of quality and passing it off as the same.

Same book different page.

But maybe it’s just me…

.

I’d wager its less “trying to fit in” and more “owned by the same company that owns AAC”

Freedom Group is ort of like Apple but with brands instead of products.

Itunes-Ipod-Mac

Bullets-Ammo-rifle-suppressor

Shit, A quick visit to Google just showed that.

I didnt know Freedom Group owned AAC.

Thanks for the info

Trying to convince friends and family into investing in an AR15 rifle is hard enough, and its only half the battle. Because I know once I do convince them I then need to spend twice as much effort to convince them to leave these 2 shit birds alone. But with their marketing, mere abundance, gunshop lore and mythology its hard.

BCM who ? Noveski who ? LMT who ? “This one looks cool its got a pissed off snake roll mark” grrrrrrrr

Ill just go with a quality barrel or upper. no reason to piss away that kind of cash.

I really like how d-PMS made a rifle for those “that measure meters by the hundreds”…

I wish them the utmost of success.
It will help secure the caliber by getting it into the hands of owners, and I have been a fan of .300 Blackout since I first read about the .300 Whisper in a gunmag about 20 years ago.
I think this is why lots of the neato whiz-bang new calibers fail to take off.
As much as we frown on the “as good as” offerings out there, they are a significant segment of the market, and will continue to be so.
I think that AAC was smart to get the 300 AAC into wide distribution (or at least wide in comparison to other new AR calibers).

However, they probably will not be the manufacurers that I will choose when I get a 300 BLK upper.

$1,471 MSRP

Seriously ?! If it was under 800$ it could have been an interesting offer to the fudds for a 30cal AR platform but almost 1500$ is lunacy!

You can get a Noveske Rogue Hunter for 1650. Or hell you could buy a 6290 and an extra noveske match 300blk barrel + AAC flash hider and it would still cost less than 1500$. And you’d have an extra CHF 556 barrel.

Ohhhh but the DPMS comes with what looks like a YHM quadrail and Magpul MOE grip! Now you really have a 1500$ rifle!

I also believe switching to 1/7 was a mistake. We don’t need to take the 6.8 road and have different “official” chambers and twist rate.

1/8 stabilize 240 SMK and it is fairly accurate with 110gr.

Perhaps a slight exaggeration but generally true.

:suicide2:

308 is available in 1/13, 1/12, 1/11.25, 1/11, 1/10, and to a lesser degree, a few others. It did seem to mess up 6.8 though - but you watch - having a choice with 300 BLK is not going to hurt a thing, just like it did not hurt 308. The problem with 6.8 was not choice - it was misinformation that 1/10 twist was somehow bad and a slight change was all that was needed to be suddenly good. That was never true. 300 BLK is going to be too big for a few fanatics to have influence over.

I guess I should be happy I bought a S&W? I saw a bunch of those other brands at the show but wasn’t impressed…

Thats actually a really good way of looking at it.

I was reading something the other day, someone here was really bummed out that a particular caliber is hard to get ahold of.

Maybe it was 6.8 I cant remember

Yep…exactly what I was thinking.

2nd tier instead of 4th

Could not have phrased it better myself. Granted it’s gun shop banter but two sayings from gun shop clerks have stuck in my mind all these years:

“DPMS = Doesn’t Pass Mil Spec”

“Bushmaster uses a snake as a logo because they sell snake oil.” This one came from the way they used to (still?) bullshit people about how superior their components were, the lies about putting F/A bolt carriers in the gun, and so on.

I personally have never owned a DPMS, but my Bushmasters were less than stellar in the reliability department.

I don’t think I’d ever knowingly buy any part or accessory associated with either name in the future.

 :help:…
