I just got my M&P 15 back from S&W and noticed the castle nut staked at two points. I’m pretty sure it was only staked once before I sent it in. I’m assuming they did this when they checked it over after repairing the gun (replaced upper). Do any guns come from the factory with the castle nut staked at two points?
Per the TM a castle should be staked at 2 points.
My LMT complete lower was staked twice, at roughly 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock.

Maybe mine was staked at two points originally and I didn’t notice. Add one more item to the list that I’ve learned from this site. Thanks guys. gotm4, ever shoot the Carolina Cup?
My M&P is staked twice.
Not yet, I don’t shoot IDPA much anymore. I will be at ‘The Range’ for the NC Recon match this month.
I may ride up and watch that one, I’ve got a little itch to try 3-gun, just haven’t taken the plunge yet.
Where in NC is the Recon match?
This isn’t your typical 3gun match. This one is 2days, shotgun/pistol one day and rifle/pistol the other day. Each day each competitor has to carry everything he/she will use that day on their person (all ammo, food etc) The only time you can take your pack off is to get water or wait in the ‘stand down areas’ if waiting for the squad in front of you to finish.
