Double rail PS90 siderail setup!

Without getting into an argument about the caliber (as so many of these threads turn into)… I thought I would post this for the people who appreciate the PS90

On my PS90 - When I had a laser on 1 side and a flashlight on the other - the item on the inside of the rifle always bumped me and was really irritating after a while… (when carrying the gun on a sling at the range)

Well, I FINALLY can mount 2 items on 1 side!

This is a custom modification of Critical Dimensions double side rail.

Now, I can have both of my items back on the gun, and leave the inside side rail empty…

For the love of God man, SBR that thing!

Nice setup you have there. My PS90 is SBR’d and I only have the USSS Black Reticle Sight on it. At this point, I wish I would have waited for the triple rail version so I could just mount a micro aimpoint on it.

Well, U can still get an optic rail and put what you want on it.

I have thought about short barrelling it quite a few times, and the topic has been talked about at length at my site, the FN Forum. But, I don’t think it’s worth another $600 or so to do it. The gun is already shorter than a short barrelled AR. I also get a bit more velocity out of the round. And, I don’t want to deal with all the restrictions that are tied to having a SBR…

But, if I win the lottery

Interesting option.

That would go nicely on this one. I’ve been contemplating various options for optics and lights.

What flash hider is that?

Nice short barrel

OEM.

OEM selector, too.

Hell, I’d start a donations plate around so you could get that thing SBR’d!

Nice set up, but that cord looks like it’s just waiting to get tangled up on something.

I just use a TLR2 on mine. Its simple, compact and no cord and runs on the standard siderails.

Actually - the cord goes underneath the optic rail and wraps around the side rail on the otherside of the gun - then drops down. It is actually out of the way (I don’t have a pic of the otherside of the gun right now to show U).

My light is just on/off. The cord w/ the pressure switch is for the laser. I like having the switch - I can disconnect the cord and leave it on long term if I want to - but I like the setup with the switch.

I actually have an optic rail for mine but I don’t use it. The barrel/sight offset is just too much for me and I would like something a little lower to the bore. Thus my desire for the PS90TR. Regardless of that, I love my little SBR PS90. That is one fun gun and it is now cheaper to shoot than all my AR’s.

Sho nuff

  1. The round is fast enough out of the barrel it was DESIGNED to be fired from.

  2. What restrictions are tied to having an SBR?

I agree with Tim on the cord as well- it looks precarious.

ETA: oh wait, restrictions as in you can’t have the tape switch on the front of the fingerstop. :stuck_out_tongue:

How is this? I have not bought one because the ammo is so high. Where are you getting your ammo?

Cheapest ammo is Midway @ 2000 for a measly $760 or so…

I don’t plan on selling it - but if I hit hard times - it’s not a simple matter to just sell it - someone going to all the trouble of buyting a used SBR will just assume buy a new one (since the gun is still in production, and you can actually buy SBR ones already from CMMG).

Also - passing the gun on to my son gets more complicated - AND, it may be possible that they mass pass a law one day making these type of weapons non transferable.

And, you have to file paperwork to take a SBR out of your state.

If U look around, you can sometimes find it for $16 or $17 per box of 50.

No, form a Revocable Living Trust- you can name your son as a beneficiary. Also, no fingerprints or LEO signoff required to fill out the Form1.

Then there’s no problem of transferring it, you don’t seem to be thinking about every selling it and probably won’t, I wouldn’t.

They can’t make it illegal one day- maybe to make or sell new ones but not to buy used ones or a used SBR and they can’t un-make it an SBR.

You don’t have to fill out paperwork to take it across state lines. Just send a letter of intent to the ATF.

That’s something I need to do ASAP this week. Other people say it’s not even necessary.

Well, we’ll see. I also personally don’t think it’s worth it to spend $600 + to take off 6 inches. A revocable trust is what, another $150 or so to do the paperwork, if you download the forms?

Saving up money for gunstuff is rather tough for me - as my wife hates guns. So, at my $50 per month gun allowance (plus money from gifts) - I don’t get to spend much throughout the year.

To be honest - I’m happy with the gun the way it is now. Maybe after I buy 1 or 2 of the things I still want, I’ll reconsider.

I get ammo for 18.99 - 19.99 for a box of $50. That is now cheaper per case of 1000 than a case of 1000 of 5.56. The local Bass Pro for instance, has it for 19.99.

Although, “cheaper” is pretty relative!
