I know it is a hot item but I don’t think everyone has 3k to spend on the amount of guns available. I could be seriously wrong though? I just have exhausted my searches to find them anywhere. I know Lan World is taking deposits and saying they have a huge list. I do need a user friendly dealer to install a bullet button to send to our S***y State CA.

Look on Gunbroker they still have them. But the price is going back up and availability seems to be getting tighter.
We have a SCAR at our store and due to a ridiculous Michigan law, we as an LLC can possess it, but cannot sell it over the counter in Michigan. So I believe we are going the Gunbroker route with them.
A lot of guy’s were holding off on buying a SCAR with the hope of getting an ACR for less and now that those funds are freed up after the Bushmaster debacle the SCARs will be even more scarce.

I am an MI resident and I know of at least 1 SCAR sold in state, as I have fired it, and I’ve seen several for sale. What is the law your refering to?? Jeff

Rumor (or speculation) has it that FN is switching production to our side of the pond OR FN cranking out the black ones. Hence interruption or delay of parts. I got mine 3 weeks ago for $2600.
It actually didn’t cost me a dime, well maybe a bottle of green tea when I stopped enroute to pick it up across town. And in the work ride so not even did it cost me for the gas. I should explain that my dad bought it for me. The last time he bought me anything I was 13. I’m now 44. Well worth the wait.
By the way, it’s ranks close to my most accurate and smoothest shooter, a HK SL-8. But built for durability, practicality and 30 round mags too. Not surprised that it would since it practically copies a G36 except using metal parts where the G36 needs them badly. And keeping it very light too. Very simple to operate and maintain. Has very few parts to it. Very well balanced. I’m highly impressed with it. After 27 years experience with the M16/M4, since 17 years old and presently, first loving it, then hating it, I now just accept it as a left leg (a part of my body), along with shooting, carrying, and owning several other rifle platforms, the SCAR is my top pick as for now. FN didn’t f around in designing and developing the SCAR. Definitely A+. You will not be disappointed.
BTW, my SL-8 cracked right at the bolt catch. A G36 we had was already cracked at the buttstock hinge. Time will tell how durable the SCARs will be.

I finally found one and got it for $100 over dealer but it took 4 days of looking and calling. The real question is this, how much do you want to pay for a SCAR? They are all over the place, if you want to pay $2600-$2900. $2500-$2600 is pretty much average…
I’m not sure exactly which law it is. I just got off a deployment and am still catching up on all the new MI BS regarding firearms. This is from my boss and was confirmed by our ATF inspection gal who was “nice enough” to drop by and do one of their inspections.
I know places sell them and types like that, but they do that at their own risk.
The law apparently went through last spring sometime around May.
ETA: And I doubt its actually law, but more like some horseshit ruling by some bureaucrat.
SCAR’s are fine in MI, but they must be registered as pistols since they are under 30" when folded. Not an issue, and actually can be an advantage since registered as a pistol, it can be legally carried loaded in your vehicle if you have a CPL.

FN does not have to do anything, the federal definition of the weapon does NOT change, it just needs to be placed in MI registry as a “pistol” which is defined in MI law as any firearm less than 30" inches long but longer than 26". Where a problem can arise is that MI measures the OAL of the weapon in the shortest functioning condition, where as the Feds measure OAL with the stock extended.
Here is the AG opinion on the folding issue.
It is my opinion, in answer to your second question, that rifles and shotguns whose barrels are at least 16 and 18 inches in length, respectively, with folding and/or telescoping stocks, which are fully operable with stocks folded or contracted, and whose lengths are less than 26 inches with stocks folded or contracted, fall within the definitions of ‘short-barreled rifle’ and ‘short-barreled shotgun,’ and their sale or possession is prohibited by MCL 750.224b; MSA 28.421(2).
As for the prior poster’s repsonse, I could find no change in MI law in the last 18 months that had anything to do with rifles, doesn’t mean I didn’t miss it tho.

As I said, I don’t know for sure - I just take the boss at his word. Its his butt if we sell anything restricted, so I’m guessing he looked into it pretty good since we are losing out on sales of a variety of guns such as some DSA folders, Sig 556 Classics, Para-Ordnance AR’s, etc.
We, as an LLC could possess it, but we couldn’t sell it in-state. As I said, this is what the boss says. I’d look it up, but MI gun laws are not good for my blood pressure.
