I’m considering a build that will use the Vltor clamp-style .625 gas block and a low-profile handguard.
I don’t know what hand guards will fit over it. (the UTG Slim Pro is tempting) Using the Vltor clamp style because…no reason not to and it seems to be a good product. (Installed one once before)
I searched but it’s looking like a make-sure-you-can-return-stuff kinda deal.
Along the same line as the OP, anyone know a free float handguard ( preferably keymod) that’ll fit on a LWRC M6? I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that the Rainier Evo would, but are there other options out there?
I appreciate the advice. I’ve also found many builders who advise the clamp on is more secure than the dimpled set screw. But they also say there is nothing wrong with the dimpled set screw.
What I’m not reading or seeing is many stories about properly installed dimpled set screw blocks and clamp on style blocks coming loose. It appears that in the real world both methods normally work just fine.
I ended up with a Troy Alpha rail and .750 barrel. Looked like a real tight fit so I used a set-screw type gas block. I doubt a clamp style would fit with it’s side-screws.
I dimpled the barrel myself (wasn’t hard, just took my time and did it right) for the rear of the two screws. Everything seems okay but need a BCG so no firing yet.
