I am a mazed at how many people that own ars that r missenformed about how to use the big and small apitures or holes on the back sight. It is my understanding that the center of the holes r at different hights. Using the small on to sight it in only because smaller hole means more precise. Then u make one ckick to ur elavation witch will make the big hole sighted in where u had the little one before u made the click to elavation. And because the small hole is on a higher plan than the big one when it is flipped up u will have the correct dope for 300m and out. And if u need to use the small hole for a preciece shot at close range u would just do a quick click of the elavation back to where u had sighted it in and ur little hole will be on. But big hole will be low untill the elavation is set back. Is this correct?
Is this correct?
What? So you’re one of those “missenformed” people because you don’t even know if you’re correct or not?
Which rear sights are we talking about, the carry handle or something else?
I’m sorry, but I can’t read your post. Its like you are drunk texting your girlfriend or something.
If you come and ask a question because you know nothing, the question will be answered.
If you come and scoff at the people who know nothing, then reveal that you also know nothing, you will be mocked.
Writing is important because it’s the main method of communication between users of this website, please take the time to write well.
But to your point, yes, many people are confused about how to use their sights.
Ok i apolagize for my spelling and writing skills. They realy suck i know. It quite imbarasing as u could emagine. I left home and started working and taking care of myself at 16yrs old so i havint had the chance to learn better. But at 39 i make $110,000.00 every year and i only work half of the year. And everything i own is paid for except my colt le6920 that i had my woman go down and put on layaway sence im at work. So yeah i get by with me bad writeing skills. And im referin to the carry handle, iron sights… If u camt undersand what i write just dont leave a coment. Wather than making fun of others in hopes of makeim u look better.
i write gud 2 u c.
Writing proper English will get you much further in life than trying to create an us vs them mentality based on ignorance.
OP - so are you asking if it’s better to have flip up BUIS vs carry handle sights?
Right, well…
Read a manual on how to use the sights, or just pick another zero to use instead of the 300 meter battle zero. 100 yard/meter zero is popular and same with the 50/200 zero.
Most people who shoot a lot are going to get rid of the carry handle sights pretty quick and get a replacement back up iron sight like a Troy, Daniel Defense, or Magpul; and then get an optic of their choice.
Something you may want to consider instead of learning the clicks on your sight is going to be zeroing the gun for a distance that you’re going to shoot at regularly, and then learning holdovers.
Guys, why do we want someone who writes like that using anything that requires sights at all?
Maybe i just picked the wrong forum to join.
I do find it funny that i write like an idiot but you all cant understand what im asking because you all dont know how to use the sights. The holes on the carry handle are set at two different hights. So that when the big hole is on at close range the little one is on at long distance. So u dont have to miss with the elavation because u have basicly two in one. But as soon as you people get this gun u start taking shit off and putting what everyone else has got or wants. Cause u got to have the biggest and badest to compansite for what u dont have in manhood… Posably?? And how i wright has nothin to do with how i shoot.
So people use smaller sights to compensate for something? It seems your logic needs work along with your English.
What do you do for a living?
And fyi, most ARs don’t even come with a carry handle anymore. The only time I’ve ever used a carry handle was on my training M16a2. My issued M4 has flip up rear sights and my personal ARs did not come with any sights at all.
People here will try to give you the benefit of the doubt, but this forum is run primarily by and for professionals. The interested civilian wanna-bes (myself included), try to maintain the same level of professionalism.
You started off very poorly with a post that makes you look childish, not inexperienced. You then followed up with a post claiming that you make $110k in just 6 months, from a job that apparently requires no written communication. You added a statement that sounds like you’re getting the subject firearm via a straw purchase, which is frowned on by Federal law, let alone here. It does make it harder to give that benefit of the doubt.
Wow. I have to appolagize this has gone to far. I have been spending hours a day on this site for over week and a half now and i have realy enjoyed it. But i make one post and i get all this crap. I guess im just touchy about my wrightin skills. Maybe if u guys met me in person u would think differently of me. We dont normaly put so much importance on how someone comunicates as long as he is a good person. So i will find another goup to learn from.
Oh for fucks sake stop it now. When you’re ole lady gets done making the straw purchase for you…have her type something remotely readable. Normally I don’t bust on other people, but this is just damn silly.
So r u sayin that i can not have my woman go in walmart, take my money and put down on a layaway on a gun that i will go in there and do all the paper work and the gun will be in my name? I mean all she done was put the gun on layaway. She signed no paper work, they did not even ask her name. And u say this is agaist the law? And it is frowned on? Please explain what is wrong with this on the account that i try to obey the law at all times.
Every gun i own is in my name. Just because i cant spell doesnt make me a fellon. But hey good point ill get my ol lady to post from now on when im home… Maybe yall could find something to give her shit about;P
How’d she put it on layaway if they didn’t ask her name?
No need to get bitter, I didn’t see anyone say you were a bad person just bad at english. There are many good sources of knowledge here, and many of us are former mil so watch out for ball busting.
To answer what I think is your question, the 0-2 sight commonly referred to as the “night sight” is used for engagements from zero to 200m, and I guess low light. Passed that the small aperture is preferred, and for more precise shots.
Yep this about to get shut down
