Do I need a factory crimp die?

I’m looking to mass produce decent, reliable 9mm ammo for practice and classes. I’m using Rainier 115gr plated bullets. I don’t need it to be 100% reliable but I would like to achieve 99.99% reliability. My issue is that much of my brass won’t fit into my EGW chamber gauge. It fits my M&P9 barrel no problem, but the bases are bulged enough that they bind in the minimum spec gauge. Should I bother with a FCD? Is there a downside in this application?

No, the FCD won’t help if the base is bulged in my experience.

You need an EGW die. They size further down the case than standard dies and are slightly undersized:

Thanks you very much.

+1 for the EGW die. It dramatically reduced my reject rate!
