I’ve been looking pretty hard at getting the 1050 and using it to run .223 match ammo. I currently load this stuff on a Co-Ax and would like to do it faster, and never have to swage again. I currently have a Hornady Ammo Plant and appreciate all that it has to offer, but I’m thinking the 1050 would be better suited for this purpose. Do any of you load match ammo on a 1050, and if so, how does the consistency compare to what you can make on a single stage?
The 1050 does a very good job. My older 1050 (not the newer Super 1050) is used for my 77 grain precision loads as well as my 55 gr practice ammo. I’ve since started using a Forster Benchrest seater die that will not work in the 1050 - only for my 77 grain loads. For those I move the cases (after the powder drop) to a loading block and seat the 77 gr bullets using my turret press.
I’m unsure if this extra step (really two steps since I also use a light taper crimp) is worth it or not. My best ever long range group - 700 Meters - was done with a conventional seater die in the 1050.

I’ve heard some people say that the Forster & redding seating dies can be milled slightly to work on the 1050. That’s an encouraging looking group.
Redding dies work without modification on the 1050. I’m not sure where that’s coming from. I use a Redding dies on my 1050. Bushing sizer die and competition seater die.

Based on information I have been reading, I bit the bullet and ordered a 1050 from Graf’s. Now the wait begins…
