I’m sure there are other threads about this but here she goes. I like the H-1 the best but am not real sure about the 4 moa reticle. I like the protective rubber cover that comes with most ML3’s and am wondering if this protective rubber coat can be put on a C3 as well. The C3 is a bit cheaper for me but I don’t want to buy older Aimpoint products just because of the new technology they use in the newer ones like the ML3. I am looking for a close quarters product and that’s why I like the H-1 but want to be able to make a 300-400 yard shot with it as well. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I love my h1. I have no problems hitting steel targets at 300. Don’t have much trigger time on it yet, but it has proven to work fine for me.
Somebody sharpshoot me on this, but if I remember correctly, putting a 50/200 zero on a 4MOA dot makes for a one-dot hold or so from COM for a 400 shot. Right? Or thereabouts?
Point being, maybe you wouldn’t be trying for headshots (or, maybe you would) but there’s no reason you can’t take that kind of shot with a 4MOA dot. I’ve done it with my 2MOA ML3, but it’s within the capability of the H1, too. Question becomes, is that within your capability as a shooter?
The C3 has the ACET circutry. You’ll get 50k hrs out of the battery, but you don’t have the water immersion resistance of the ML3. Question becomes, are you planning on diving with a C3 or H1 to or below 5m? No impact/no idea on the rubber cover on an M3/ML3 fitting a C3.
The C3 is the best bang-for-buck of the product line, and you can get a 2MOA dot. Between the two, the only advantage I see toward the H1 is reduced size, which may or may not be worth the expense to you.
All of the M3 accessories will work with the C3.
The below is one of my C3’s with an M3 rubber cover, M3 extra battery cap/strap, and M3 flip covers…

And as stated above, the ACET technology within the sight is the same - the differences within the “3” models are in the waterproofing and lens coatings to facilitate NV use…
I have both the H1 and C3 and both are great.
My C3 is a 2 MOA and the H1 only comes in a 4 MOA dot. I can hardly tell the difference in the two in most situations. I’ve found for more precise aiming the H1’s brightness can be turned down.
Either one is a great buy, but I think the better VALUE is with the C3.
