I’ve seen some amazing first time effort from new shooters, not at all inconsistent with the story laid out here. I still don’t really understand the “why” of the post, but it’s the Twitter age and I’m sure that more accepting responses will come from here than elsewhere.
Preach the gospel, one good trigger press at a time.
My fiancé had never fired a weapon before we met. Her first range trip was way more bullseye shooting than a rookie should manage. Her second range trip out she empties the magazine into a steel can at 20 yards… Not slow fire either. Pretty much as fast as she could pull the trigger and the target was moving away with each shot. She’s a damn good natural, and I’m piecing together a carbine for her as a result of it.
Some women can shoot. Keep her interest up. You might have a convert on your hands.
a couple of weeks ago i brought a co-worker out shooting, along with my wife. my co-worker had never fired a pistol or rifle before, so she was pretty excited about it. she just did everything i told her to do, and shot very well. we just did all bullseye stuff at 5-10 yds, dot drills etc. started her off with my .22LR glock conversion kit, them put on the 9mm upper later. from my limited experience, i think that weapons handling (can they load the pistol, rack the slide etc) is more telling about how much someone has shot than how accurate they are. do they hold the pistol comfortably or handle it like a dead rat?
I’m almost positive she’s never fired a weapon before, and if she has…how many females after learning to shoot still lean and hold the weapon incorrectly? A bunch.
I found some images of other girls I’ve taken to the range to compare.
There is a noticable difference in the way the girl in the OP shoots (We’ll call her hustler) than the other 3 in the images. But I don’t think I spent as much one-on-one instruction with them, and they had all fired guns before. Plus, I was more interested in other aspects of them. (Especially that blonde. She wild…she does modeling too, if you want her name PM me ;))
And I see your point now. I’m definitely not “that good” to where I can take a nobody and make them blow out the x rings at 7 yards. But she did. Repeatedly. I’ve taken many Marines from flinching from recoil hitting the sandbags at the base of the targets to shooting expert, but I’ve seen others barely get marksman. So did I get hustled? Who knows. Maybe some people just adapt better to firearms regardless of the instructor.
F2S, the “why” of this post is that taking someone to a gun range can “convert” them…or at least open their eyes. When I told her the LW Middy wasn’t in compliance with the AWB, I asked her to point out why. She said she had no idea. When I pointed out that it has a threaded muzzle, a bayonet lug, pistol grip, and collapsing stock she said “Why on earth would they ban those?” I told her to google the “Shoulder thing that goes up” video.
Gotcha.
Original post reads more like a combination humblebrag/does she like me/opportunity for self fellation, but I get it if you are saying that it’s something else.
I find the topic of conversion of anti gun folks far more interesting than talking about gender as it relates to shooting, and infinitely more so than personal attraction in conjunction with shooting.
Anyway, keep up the good fight, you’re doing good things, not that you need my approval.
completely new shooters are easier to teach since you dont have to break bad habits. I’ve taken some new shooters and within an hour got them to shoot better than 90% of the people at the range. Women have better dexterity and fine motor skills with their hands, thats why they are better at things like sewing than men so this can translate well to smooth trigger control. Shooting is one of the few sports where women can hold their own against men because the factor of physical strength disadvantage women have is irrelevant for shooting.
Source?
There is no proven correlation between dexterity and gender that I am aware of.
Shooting is one of the few sports where women can hold their own against men because the factor of physical strength disadvantage women have is irrelevant for shooting.
Physical strength is a significant factor in shooting.
Compare the top pistol shooters in the world to the average person and you will find that they have larger, stronger hands. Crushing the gun is a critical aspect of speed pistol shooting.
If the shooting sports that you are referring to are things like bullseye/clays/HP, then I agree that the gap between genders is much smaller.
There is a reason that the high-performance shooting sports have gender-specific divisions.
I have not met all the top shooters for sure, but I have met a fair amount, and known some very high level people, and to a man, they had big paws that made the gun look small in their mits. That seems to be a common physical trait among high level shooters I have noted. Jerry M has hands that look like they belong on a guy 3 times his size. You know what they say about guys with really big hands…
I had to urbandictionary humblebrag! I guess it did come off like that, but without explaining that I’m a “qualified” instructor and a “decent” one at that, there would be no question that she had received training before. On the other hand, I absolutely hate talking about myself as in my experience 99% of the people that do haven’t done what they say they have and the 1% that do are usually douchebags. Tough line to toe.
I agree about the giant hands and strength being necessary to shoot well. Even if that girl did have fine motor skills that made her better at manipulating a gun,
There’s no way she could successfully complete a course of fire with an FNP 45.
My 15 year old daughter (who has been shooting since about age 6 and is pretty good) loves nothing more than to “show up” my nephew and his buddies when they come out to the ranch for a day of shooting. She is quiet and acts like she does not know what she is doing then walks up and borrows their 10-22 or 20 gauge and matches or beats them.
I love it because it turns a normally loud and bragging bunch of teenage boys into a very quiet group! LOL
She casually walks up and puts 10 in the X-ring or breaks several clays in a row or dances Coke cans all around and they usually just stand and stare.
Yeah…you might have been played…LOL. That is one of my daughter’s favorite tricks to play on other boys.
Would be a lot more believable if this girl didn’t volunteer for Planned Parenthood, praise Obama’s every move, and blame high crime rates among African American youth as “white people’s fault”. Her goal in life is to be a “civil rights attorney” to defend women, blacks, and Native Americans from the “evil capitalist culture”. And unlike all the Debbie Downers in the M4C thread, she’s a few graduate classes and a BAR exam away from actually being one.
If she’s playing me…I sure hope she’s an anomaly. If the rest of the ultra-left wing loonies shoot as well as she does, we are doomed.
She’ll stop being a leftist loon after shooting more and paying for a few April 15ths. It doesn’t take much to break a flimsy faith based on lack of exposure to reality.
Or a few cases as an attorney where the “oppressed by wealthy white folks” criminal turns out to be nothing more than a ruthless thug whose simply to lazy to do anything productive.
