These are required to be striker-fired types. It’s desired that the barrel be serial number matched to the frame - I know that European guns meet that spec off-the-shelf, but not sure if US-manufacured pistols do?
Wonder if this is written to favor any particular brand?:
VP9 just lost it: “3.11.3 The slide lock/release lever shall be designed in such a way to minimize the potential for unintentional activation (cause the slide to lock to the rear) while shooting with a thumbs forward grip.”
I cannot think of a pistol that does make it.
Glock doesn’t have an ambi slide lock. M&P doesn’t have a slide lock that can be easily used. And the VP9 and PPQ have slide locks that cause issues with the gun not locking open with a thumbs forward grip.
The serial number bit is pretty irrelevant in the big picture, as I doubt it’s that difficult for S&W to start serializing their pistols parts, particularly for this contract.
You know the pistol that I think might actually meet the specs for the controls? The SiG P320. Blech.
