Dems almost pull a fast one over GOP Today

Interesting.

Once again Republicans attempt to fix the problem and place their priority on those corrections and Democrats play popularity games and place priority on consolidating their position.

Sadly the vast majority of Americans fall for these smoke and mirror games and that is why the country is in the shape it is in.

The thing is the Republicans are full of shit and great showmen, no different than their Democratic colleagues to the left.

The idea of a few billion is a joke, and the only way to save the country like it or not (I fucking hate it) is to raise taxes across the board. It’s not right to make cuts to social security and medicare no matter how much you dislike the idea since we’re forced to pay in to it.

What are we going to do, take every 60+ year old middle class person who had 15% of their 40+ years of labor taken from them to give them “security” for the time they’d no longer be able to work and put their ass on the streets? How many people on this board are finding themselves unemployed or left behind with no way to move forward in the workforce? This is a new economy and baby boomers who don’t have a higher education and even those who do are finding it harder and harder to compete. So taking some old ass person out of retirement and throwing them in to the shuffle will just end bad.

Simple solution that everyone hates, spend a shit load less and tax more. Both sides hate the other so it’ll never happen and in 10 years we’re fucked.

That is often the case, but doesn’t seem to be in this instance.

Except in this case it wasn’t a few billion but a few trillion. $9.5 trillion in cuts over the next decade to be exact, which if enacted would balance the federal budget by 2020.

And if a tax increase is necessary then that is the case, but before they ask for more money, I want to first stop paying for unnecessary bullshit like financially supporting deadbeats.

It’s fine to cut social security and medicare. When I have medical bills, nobody pays them, I fucking pay them. I shouldn’t have to pay MY medical bills AND support the medical bills of others. Social security is a ponzi scheme. My grandmother paid into that shit for decades and she gets a few hundred bucks a month. She’d have been much better served paying the same money into a retirement program. But the government told her social security would provide and she fell for it.

Technically, she didn’t fall for it, she didn’t have a choice… and therein lies the problem.

Im all for helping people but the strings need to get pulled in much tighter on exactly who is getting help.

My wife works home nursing, and a lot of her patients are medicare recipients. MOST of them do not need her services but they get it anyways because its a convenience, and MOST of them have families that could easily do what my wife does. She will help someone get out of bed while that persons off spring sit there on their ass and watch.

We don’t need to be funding people who get on welfare, and then pump out 3 kids in a row ALL on the tax payer dime.

Help should be there if you cannot take care of yourself through no fault of your own, and if you don’t have family who can give you the help you need. If we boiled down welfare to that these programs would not even cost 1/4th of what they do right now.

And I don’t really care if a 60 year old person paid into something their whole lives. They’re the ones that voted for these fuckers who spent it all long ago. They’re the ones who instituted the “war on poverty”. Now that Im in the workforce I need to pay higher taxes for what these idiots did before I was born? They should have been thinking about their retirement instead. I don’t expect someone being born today to pay for my retirement. Fuck them.

And no more “disability” because you got so fucking fat you got diabetes and can’t lift your lard ass out of bed to provide for yourself. No more welfare because you couldn’t keep your legs closed, and now I get to pay for your kids AND mine.

True.

That will not come close to balancing anything, ever. So anyone who claims they will be balancing it ten years out, well, I will just go to your first post:

Sadly the vast majority of Americans fall for these smoke and mirror games and that is why the country is in the shape it is in.

Well it wouldn’t be the first time somebody used special math in the presentation of political spending ideas.

That said, I prefer some action to remedy to none.

I try and put faith in the notion that they can’t continue to rape and pillage us if they bring down the entire house of cards, but I’m not certain they have that much foresight any more.

Agreed.

We will see what happens when it is time to deal with the debt ceiling next month. I expect more of the same. Hope I am surprised though.

Tax increases fuel spending increases and deficit increases, this is a historical fact. It happened when Bush the elder raised taxes and it happened when Reagan raised taxes. There are other examples that I cannot remember. This is, I believe, the Democrat plan, to trick the Republicans to accept huge tax increases.

Supporting what I said above. Let is look back at what the 10 year prediction was in 2000.

As you can see in the charts titled “CBO Revenue Projections 2000 - 2009” and “CBO Outlay Projections 2000 - 2009,” the CBO expected a budget surplus in every year from 2000 to 2009. In fact, they projected the ENTIRE federl debt (not deficit) would be paid off by now. They are clueless.

Medicare, and medicaid are two different programs. Medicare isn’t for the poor and unemployed, that’s what medicaid is for. Medicare is insurance that every working person pays in to for when they get old they can afford health coverage, and it isn’t free you still have deductibles etc.

Medicaid gets a shit load more funding than medicare.

Those here who haven’t reached a ripe age yet probably have no idea the cost of insurance if you buy it yourself because you’ve been living off your group insurance that your work provides (you should be thankful), for a 65 year old male you’re looking at a few grand a MONTH. And if you don’t have $400k+ set aside for medical expenses in the event of an emergency even with insurance when you retire you’re a bum who is going to live off my dollar ;). And I know few on this board who have even $100k liquidity :P. Your homes “equity” isn’t wealth, it’s just good marketing to give you a feel good feeling.

If I cashed in I could be in the .01% bracket so old age isn’t something I’m worried about and being able to afford it, I just don’t want you poor dumb asses who make less than $150k a year eating away at my money.

But yeah lets cut taxes and cut spending because that’s really going to grow the middle class  That’s only going to help the wealthy. I have family who are worth the high 8 figures and I’ll tell you what, they know it’s BS the tax system and they might pay a big chunk of change in taxes, but because of how it works at an executive level we don’t get much in salary, I make maybe $60k a year in salary. We get compensated in shares, that have captial gains instead of income so if I make $4m in a year I’m paying 15% on that while the guy working for himself making $40k is being taxed 40-50% add in all the other taxes in his life and you’re looking at 60-70%.

So you need to tax the rich and cut spending where needed such as education, defense, agriculture, and certain social programs (sounds crazy I know). Our farm subsidies are simply fucking retarded that creates an artificial price, kind of like the recent housing market and you’re now seeing that with increase of food cost, something that doesn’t affect the upper classes, but sure as hell hurts the middle and lower while the upper benefits with commodity trades.

I’m going to go spend a few grand tonight and have some fun while people on this board are losing everything they own and are $100k’s in debt, why - because I can and have zero debt and plastic and live any way I choose. But we really need to cut taxes and decrease spending that way the average man can find his life expectancy to decrease to 60 and his quality of life be that of a Kenyan while working the rest of his life for some asshole who makes $30k a day.

Why people have such loyalty to a group of people who could give two shits about you is beyond me, you’re a big fat dollar sign even to the Chinese, the average American exist for one reason, to consume and collect debt and create wealth for a extremely small number of people.

Tax cuts don’t help you, what the GOP is doing with spending cuts doesn’t help you it hurts you. I know you all have this fantasy that one day you’ll be up on the top of the mountain looking down because you’ve maid it. But unless you have some amazing talent or are born in to wealth chances are extremely slim that it will materialize. So you need to find comfort in your position in life and fight for it. Right now both the left and the right are trying to steal it from you by creating more debt and removing and kind of safety net to catch you if you fall.

And I’m a big Ron Paul fan, but he’s willing to let the country fall for ideals. I value human life more than that and I’m willing to budge if it means decent people can have a little more comfort in their life.

ETA: And I’m a shitty writer :stuck_out_tongue:

I have always stood behind the Make the deadbeat welfare folks Take a drug test to get that free check.
Think of the money that would save ,I mean think about it How many of us have to pee in the cup at our Jobs !!
you test positive you lose your job,I think that should apply to all of the Government assisted programs.

Thats why Im a libertarian because both sides (D & R) will fuck you over.

If you want to give a little more go give your money to a charity.

An easy reason why gov funded health care in a ponzi scheme doesn’t work is because the money today’s old people paid in would never cover the care they are getting today. My wife is a home health nurse basically taking care of people until they die. These people never paid in as much as they are getting. So its a ponzi scheme relying on a greater number of contributors than receivers. Well the problem with that is with modern medicine the cost per person is FAR higher today than it was when these old people were paying in. Technology costs money. Then we have a diminishing birth rate so there are fewer people paying in today per each recipient than when these programs were started. So you get half the contributors with costs that are always going up. These old people getting treated today will have paid FAR LESS than I will have to pay.

Just look at a chart of what we have spent on these programs, and the pace they have risen far exceeds the pace of wages. If you want to give every senior 1st rate medical care until they die it would consume a HUGE portion of the country’s wealth, and is on pace to keep consuming more and more of it.

This sort of stuff use to really annoy me.

Now, I have come to realize that America is like a terminal cancer patient. The sooner you come to realize that America is doomed to go the way of the Roman Empire, the British Empire or the USSR, the happier you will be.

Raising taxes to solve the debt issue is like you going to your boss and demanding he give you 10% more money because you racked up some credit card bills…

Did it solve the real problems?

You’ve got to make the really painful decisions. Like stop sending Africa $10B to “solve” their AIDS problem. Or giving billions to the UN. Or funding indefinite welfare. Why is it that someone can collect welfare for forever? Why is it that they can live in subsidized housing forever? If you can’t make what it takes in DC, then move to Fargo and work McD’s.

It’s not enough now to have a “balanced” budget. The budget needs to be running a surplus, and not off the back of my labor.

Stop.The.Fucking.Spending.

Then let the chips fall where they will.

Thats why I want to live in a cabin in the woods in the most anti Fed state, home school my kids, and have my wife give birth on a blue tarp in the bed room.

Just look at what they are doing to kids now when their parents dont agree to pumping their kids full of pills some random doctor thinks they should take. I damned sure think democrats would make things worse and I have zero confidence republicans will do it, either, and in fact with the invention of the RINO they are often complicit in the destruction.

Stop the Social Security charade too. Set a clause that anyone who has worked less than 5 years can opt out completely. Not paying in to the SS fund, nor ever collect from it.

It’s already fucked, just take the lumps and punt that whole system. I would happily “give back” my future SS earnings to have that money in my check NOW, to invest in things I choose. Let me sign the waiver that I will never collect it, and then let me keep my fucking money.

BTW, the gov’t is already telling me I probably won’t get anything from the system, and they are still taking from me to support the ponzi scheme. Madoff went to jail for life for the EXACT same pact.

I agree, you need to stop the spending and raise taxes. If I have credit card debt and I quit using it but simply pay off 2% a month with a 30% interest rate I’m just creating more debt. I need to stop using it plus I need to put more money in to paying off the debt. We’ve already created the debt and we’re stuck with it, so we need to raise taxes for the long haul as shitty as it is to pay it off.

It ain’t gonna happen because the left love giving our money to bs and the right love to “cut taxes” so we’re fucked.

ETA: And tax hikes aren’t going to affect the average Joe, you need to tax the rich. The wealthy don’t pay the same percent of their tax share as the other classes simply because they’re money isn’t earned the same.
