I didn’t… but thanks for the heads up. I’ll try to set the DVR up for a rerun.
On a side note, is it just my service (DirecTV) or does the Military Channel not broadcast in HD? It’s kinda annoying, especially in this day and age.

Just set my DVR to record the next showing, Tuesday at 9:00 pm. Thanks for the heads up.
Looks like it is on again Tues at 2100…
or does the Military Channel not broadcast in HD?
Comcast here does not have an HD version, either…
Yep, good show.
If anyone happens across an online source that works OCONUS it would be appreciated.
Yeah it was pretty decent. I’d be very surprised if any of the guys they showed shooting were actually Delta though. The ones clearing the complex at TigerSwan stacked on the door like LEO. They had some Ranger shows before it, I caught one which was also decent and DVR’d the other but haven’t watched it yet. Nice to see some SOF documentaries from this decade, much less millennium.
Kind of irritated they hinted at why they chose the SEALs for the bin laden raid but not delta in the commercials but never mentioned it in the show.
LAV made some good points about the higher ups being SEAL admirals though here on M4C…
I thought they mentioned something about it towards the end, but I am probably wrong since I do not remember their reason for not choosing them.
I think they showed the same guy, or a different guy with the same gun, for one of their Ranger shows though. It has the SureFire brake I think, and an EoTech.
It was in there. I don’t want to attempt a direct quote from memory but something along the lines of the SEALS being more “hollywood” (high profile) than Delta. The implication being that Delta is more for missions that people won’t even know ever took place for the most part.
It’s available on Military Channel’s Youtube in HD if you pay $1.99 to watch.
I have Time Warner and no HD Military Channel.
That is how I saw it, shoot house footage was training at Tiger Swan as James Reese explained on. The one shooter they kept showing had what appeared to be a 16" Troy Defense 5.56 Carbine. I doubt that any film crew would ever be allowed access to “The Ranch” at Bragg or whatever they call it.
As for the 75th footage, Discovery/Military resuse A LOT of stock footage.
I really enjoyed it. One thing i didn’t like was that the narrater or whatever seemed to be constantly defending Delta, as if they have gotten a shitty reputation. That couldn’t be further from the truth and I wasn’t sure why they kept alluding to that. I am non military and don’t think I have ever heard Delta get bashed or questioned by average joes. Are there people out there that really think people involved with Delta are not bad ass?? Whatever they are smoking, id sure like some.
Just randomly happened to come across this wiki page after reading this thread.
To put a face to the sniper mentioned who was killed in Somalia, Randy Shughart, awarded after his death, the Medal of Honor.
Not OCONUS, unfortunately.
My understanding is that after Operation Eagle Claw was aborted due to aircraft issues some in the media and I’m sure in the brass looked negatively upon the new Unit and blamed them for the catastrophe at Desert One when in reality they had nothing to do with the air assests.
During Paul Howe’s interview he addressed how some in the media and politics considered Operation Gothic Serpent a failure when in fact they obtained their objective (Aidid’s inner circle), rescued the down crews that they could reach, and fought through the night until they were relieved.
Yeah they do, there were a few shots of Marines in there haha.
Delta, as with all SOF, had a rough time coming into their own. The resistance from conventional commanders and many politicians was tremendous and has only really gotten better with the recent conflicts. And the outfall of Operations Eagle Claw and Gothic Serpent hurt them quite a bit. It took a lot of uphill fighting and negotiating (both with the enemy and within military and political circles) to get those men and units where they are today.
Gary Gordon was the other sniper with Shugart, both suffered the same fate and were awarded the MOH.
Really nothing new, seemed like some hurt feelings over the OBL take down, and lots of chest thumping about how Delta is the Tierest of all Tier 1’s in existence. I thought it was a waste of an hour.
I wasn’t one so what do I know.:cray:
For anyone with DirecTV, this is already available via VOD. They did speak about the Seals having the OBL mission & it was mentioned that they are more “vocal” or “Hollywood” but those weren’t stated as the reason for them getting the mission. None was really stated.
Seemed like they focused a lot on the mishaps of previous missions. I realize that is part of the reality of theses missions but I would’ve also liked to hear of some that went off without a hitch. Overall, I thought it was a good program.

I don’t remember where I heard/read it from but supposedly DEVGRU got the mission because that was their area of responsibility at the time (?). i.e CAG also had AOR’s but the Abbottabad area wasn’t one of them.
