Hey guys, I am looking to buy a Del-Ton M4 upper.
what do you guys think of this:
and what changes do you think it will be better. let me know and why.
Jaime.
I went with a Del-Ton for my build because it was immediately available at the time and it had the best reputation among the DIYers I talked to. After doing so I found this forum and learned a lot more about the AR platform. I now have plans to upgrade the extractor spring and insert, and ream the chamber to true 5.56 spec (at least the gas key was properly staked). Read through the info the folks on this site have to offer before you make any decisions about what company to go with or how you want to build your rifle.
If I had it to do over, I would go with a BCM upper and bolt carrier group from the start.
They use 4140 instead of 4150cmv in there barrels which is a lower grade of steel but prob something you will ever miss. The 1/9 twist they use is for the standard rounds you will fire up to around 69grain. I prefer like most the 1/7 as it allows heavier rounds but the 1/9 will stabalize what you will prob be shooting just fine. My 2cents save a few bucks and use the regular gas tube.
thats what I wanted more feedback from you guys. take in consideration that I live in anot free state otherwise know as CALIFORNIA. theres alot of thing we can actually have. this will be my first AR.
