Deep Scratch on Bullet

Getting this when chambering rounds. Do I need to polish feed ramps? If so do I use a Dremel on low speed with jeweler’s rough?

Not a problem. ARs scratch bullets and brass.

I would shoot for accuracy and see if those scratches hurt groupings. Since copper is a very soft metal, it could be related to anything from magazines, feed ramps, to a bur inside the chamber. If you get good groups, then I wouldn’t worry about things too much.

Thanks for the replies. 5 shot groups are good, although there is usually one that’s outside the other 4. Shooter error no doubt. There’s a pic of my 6920 on a target in the picture thread page 111. Bottom left and right were the last two groups sighting in my scope.

I’m betting you’re getting that scratch from ejecting live rounds after chambering them. Leave the gun alone and shoot the hell out of it.

spam… I’m thinking you’re right. The more I shoot the better the trigger gets anyway.

The J shaped scratch is from dragging the bullet across the lugs as the ejector yanks the round sideways when it is ejected.
