Dedicated 9mm lower by double diamond? thoughts?

What are the opinions on dedicated 9mm lowers that don’t need a mag block. Anyone here with experience care to comment on these?

If you’ve used them, any thoughts between the 9mm colt mag version or the glock mag version?

Thanks in advance for the thoughts.

I love mine. Runs like a Swiss watch. Works great with Metalform and C Products mags… I think the key to it being so reliable is the floating ejector… YMMV though…

Ive been using my Rock River for some time and love it. I am putting together a Lone Wolf Glock 9mm AR, my initall take on it is very well maufactured cant wait to shoot it.

also interested in feedback on these

I’ve not used the double d but I have run the CMMG dedicated 9mm lower on full auto and it ran great.
Personally, I would prefer a dedicated lower that uses Glock mags.

I have one of the early builds (very low serial no.). It had a bit of a purplish hue and the mag release had to be bent in to get it to work. I tried a Norgon thinking my original mag release was out of spec. It wasn’t…it just needed a bend.

Those were the only issues I had. Jon (the owner) is extraordinary in the customer service area. A very good guy that is willing to do what it takes to make his customers happy. (There was a lot of bad blood when CNC upgrades forced delayed shipments.)

Last time I spoke to him, he said he’d gone to a new anodizer and the current finishes look better, but may not be as durable as the purplish finish mine has. (FYI, I got the impression that whatever he’s using is still pretty durable, just a not AS durable as mine)

Was it expensive? Hell yes. (my build went over $4k) But I know I got the best 9mm lower out there. And when I go to TOS and see and the bitching and moaning coming from people having issues with the Hahn block, Spikes block, or whatever…I kinda giggle. (Sigh, re-reading that…I’m such an a**hole.).

If you’ve got the coin, go for it. Everywhere I go people want to shoot “that little thumper ye got there.” I love it.

One last issue though. And for the life of me I can’t seem to get a solution to it:

Without the suppressor, it’s a laser–32 rounds makes one ragged hole at 20 yards.

With suppressor, those groups open up to about 7 inches. It’s the damndest thing…

You paid $4,000?

Personally, I would buy a Colt with the pinned block (same thing) and you know that the lower will be in spec.

Actually it was closer to $5,000.

I have a RRA and have yet to have a problem with it. The DDLES lower looks fantastic, it the company could produce them in quantity, they be even better. I just don’t think they’ll be around in a few years. The Lone Wolf lower, which uses Glock magazines, is a sure fire way to get around magazine related issues. The only issue is hat the bolt must be machined to clear the Glock magazines dimensions. There was talk that LW would sell a modified bolt as well, I just haven’t seen if they are doing it. They do supply you with the dimensions that the bolt must be machined to, but you gotta get that done on your own. Good luck, the 9mm is a fun cartrage in the AR.

Hmmmm? Mine has an ADCO 5 inch barrel and a YHM Cobra M2 Suppressor and it shoots that on ragged hole at 20 yards. Have you tried you suppressor on a different gun to see how works with it?

Thanks guys for the insight!

Well I’ve put about 300 to 400 rounds of different types of ammo through the Lone Wolf Lower / Rock River Upper build using factory magazines. Zero problems feeding or functioning and extremely accurate, deffinately a rifle I’ll never get rid of. I’m invested at about $1000 now to get the asthetics and a red dot sighting system.

I just ordered a DDLES 9MM lower. The build will be a long process, as I’m going to SBR it and a CMMG 5.56 lower I have on the way, plus look into a 9MM suppressor. I should have ordered one in the summer, but better late than never.

Rhino

Very happy with mine. It is very tight with the Vltor upper. Mags lock in very sweet…much better than my Colt, which requires a good smack to get it to lock in.

Can I get the specs on your build (or point me to the thread)? I was just thinking how a CASV would look and thinking if a suppressor would fit inside it… Thanks.

Rhino

Well, there IS a suppressor in mine and it fits fine. I’m not sure what your asking.

Vltor MUR & CASV
CMMG bolt and 7" barrel kit
DDLES lower
RRA LPK
Heavybuffer 9mm 8oz w/wolf spring kit
Gemtech Multimount
Magpul & Aimpoint
I use cheap C-Products mags

Did I answer your questions?

I’ve got one. It looks great. It mates with my spikes dedicated 9mm upper beautifully. Just waiting for a form 1 to come back so I can order a barrel, bolt and finish this build.

Aesthetically I think it’s the best looking dedicated 9mm lower available. We’ll now more in aproximately 3-4 months :suicide:

This is sweet man!
In all honesty my favorite part of the DD lowers is they are so much more asthetically pleasing that having a small mag in a huge mag well, uless the mag is pushed all the way to the cranial end of the gun

Thanks man.
