I’m looking for a decent pair of binoculars, and I want to spend $50-$75.
I know this won’t buy top-shelf quality, but the purpose is just sight-seeing wildlife and boats from our living room and deck (we have a great view). I have an old beater Tasco binoculars in my range bag for seeing bullet holes at the 25 and 50yd lines, and I have a nice compact Nikon binoculars for hiking.
These will be accessible to my eight-year-old, so I don’t want to spend a pile of money on them.
Weight and/bulkiness isn’t a concern: I don’t foresee carrying these anywhere.
I’d like at least 10-12x magnification (I see Bushnell offers 16-20x in the “Powerview”). Larger objective lenses (more light) would be good, so I want at least 50mm (I see Nikon offers some 70mm binoculars).
At that price range just research the different models. Stick to popular brands like bushnell, etc and pick one you like.
In my experience they’re all pretty much the same in that price range. I’ve had cheapo pairs break with the slightest drop and others srill going strong after 10 years.
No experience with their binoculars, but their scopes are insanely good for the price. I used to run a 1-4x kdot and at $700, it was as good as most $1200-1500 scopes.
Academy sells Nikon for that price, just a thought. I bought a pair there to replace all mine that got lost in a fire…Seems to work very well for the $60 price…
