Just curious here. Is the front “panel” made of “ballistic” material?

It is a plate carrier…

I’d need to see a video with a plate installed before considering.

both front and back plates were installed in the pack during the making of this video

Very interesting concept Ares and thanks for the heads up. Honestly I would want the handgun like I normally carry it but I carry a back pack often and this idea has merit. Would be curious to know how much storage area is in the bag with plates stowed away. As usual great stuff from Ares. Thanks,

-Jax

The area that the plates and weapon go in is separated from the rest of the pack. This allows you to have a fully functional back pocket. About the size of a small jansport backpack

Be interesting if the straps/suspenders for the front panel had some rigidity to them so that the wearer could go two hands on the gun with out having to hold the front plate in place.

Are those hard plate armour or soft armour panels?

Could even sell it with out a weapon if you are that worried about your kid at school.

You do not have to hold the panel in place. There is a system to attach bottom straps to the carrier that was not part of the demo. We used Hard plates for the video but you could easily use soft armor if you chose to.

Roger. Appreciate the info Ares.

Perfect for the kids at School:no:

This has bad idea all over it. Hate to be that guy. But dam…

I’m excited u guys were able to develop this. There was a company in Sweden that made something similar years back but I could never get them toexport to the states. Then MSA became a distributor but those lazy fucks never answered my inquiries. Will be buying a bunch for sure. What size plates fit? And I’m assuming there are side straps to hold the front and back in place after deployment? Thanks for making this happen guys!!

Btw was this on display at marinewest today? I saw lots of cool shit but don’t remember seeing the pack…

Ya we were there. actually we were right at the front entrance

It will fit standard plates it is adjustable SM-LG. Yes there are side straps to hold the front in place. They were not part of the demo because we were focusing more on the speed that you could deploy the system.

No offence. This is pretty badass… I’d even consider buying one…

but I would bet money on being shot before I even touched my gun. 2 seconds is too slow.

Cool concept though.

Neat idea, but what is to stop you from braining yourself in the head with the plate while deploying it? It just seems like you have the potential to take yourself out of a possible fight.

From that deep of concealment, I don’t think it is that bad, and you are starting near the surrender position. I would think that you’d still CCW regularly in case you got seperated from your bag. I don’t think the application is for being street mugged or directly attacked. It seems it is for if your are in an area where something is happening, you can act.

Depending on dimensions, it might be a great application for something like the KAC PDW or a smaller PDW.

Practice

What is the market for this? Is it civies, or PSD or off duty cops?

I’ll say that is pretty freaking neat. I can defintely see some specific apps for this in my part time fed job and maybe for some EDC/BOB/car bag apps too. As far as the comments about being too slow, gun at my head etc., I would hazard a guess that this isnt what that is designed for. Your at the mall, shots ring out. Your level of training, experience and mindset tell you to go to the fight. This gives you some supplemental/primary protection when you get there. Also, give you a way to carry a 2nd gun…or your primary and your secondary somewhere on your body.

In my mind, the setup is not as much a CCW method, as it is a contingency kit. I don’t do off-body carry, so my setup would have a BOK, spare mags, or useful tools on the front.

I also see this as an option for an egress kit in a non-permissive environment. The wearer could stock the cargo portion with a respirator/gas mask, drop rope, or other things they might need to get out of somewhere bad things are happening in.

Also, an option for plain-clothes LE folks to discreetly carry some life support gear for on-duty work or call-out.

:30 video is tough to draw much from, but I’d very much like to see more.
