DDM4v5 FTFeed.

I am having FTFeed(FTD?) issues with Silver Bear HP 62gr with my DDM4v5. It gets pinched between the chamber and the mag. forward assist does nothing. This happens when I chamber a round so it is not a short stroking issue. No FTE issues either. Brass is fine, no problems. I tried 3 different mags, pmags and lancer mag and they all did the same. Bolt will lock back after last shot also with both brass and steel.

This is starting to suck since I am seeing a couple of DDM4 mid-lengths that are FTF. It seems that they all choke on anything that is not 55gr.

How is it “getting pinched”? Is the bolt face riding over the top of the base of the cartridge? If so, it could very well be a short stroking issue.

Is this occurring after firing a round or while charging the rifle manually?

Presumably you’ve dialed 1-800-554-4867 and explained the issue. Since I know you’ve done that otherwise you wouldn’t have posted this, how much and where are you lubricating? I happens only when you’re dropping the bolt after loading a fresh magazine and never during firing?

The bolt catches the case, pushes it into the chamber about halfway. The top of the steel case ammo is scratched heavily. The bullet is almost seated into the bolt. The pinch is from the top of the chamber to the force to the mag. It is still a little in the mag when it gets pinched. I half to work it a little to get the mag out since the bullet is still in the mag a little. Once the mag is out the bullet falls out the chamber.

This happens when I drop the bolt, charge the bolt, and during firing. Only with Silver bear 62gr HP. Brass is fine. Gun is brand new. Build date 9-10.

you need to call DD… this thread will most likely be locked until you do.

in the mean time, have you tried different magazines? does it look like the HPs are impacting the receiver low? do you see copper markings below the feedramps on the receiver, or in the M4-extension cuts?

How many rounds have you fired thru it?

How many rounds are you loading in your magazines?

This is the correct answer. We’d love to hear the story after Daniel Defense is given the first crack at troubleshooting your issues.

Thanks.

yunggunz,

You have about 8 posts on M4Carbine and almost everyone is about your malfunctioning DD carbine. One of them was 4 days ago. Contact DD first before you make any more posts about it.
