DDLES released their GLOCK 21 lowers!

I thought I’d let you guys know. DDLES calls it their Glock Large Frame Mag Lower, since it accommodates magazines that fit 45ACP and 10mm.

I ordered mine already. So now I’ll own two 45ACP carbines…I gotta get my stamp collection together.

A 10mm carbine!

A 10mm carbine would be cool, but I can’t get past the .59 cents per round average…unless I learn the language of reloading my own.

Until then, I’m heading down the 45ACP route and buying a little lesser a round for .35 cents per round average.

I like the idea of a 10mm carbine that uses Glock magazines.

When looking through their site, I noticed the description for the barrels lists them chambered for 9mm, .357 SIG, .40, 10mm, .45 ACP, and .45 GAP. Yet, the drop-down menu only has 9mm and .40 as options for both the barrels and complete upper receivers.

SCatalyst, are you using a DDLES .45 ACP upper receiver, and if so, where did you choose calibers other than 9mm and .40?

What is the optimum length for a 10mm upper, considering velocity and handiness? Do their uppers run reliably?

It’s nice they put up graphs, it was tedious to put it into excel.

Nevermind…

No, I’m going with a direct impingment 45ACP upper I got from Ron Williams at RMW Xtreme. He’s the go-to-guy when it comes to pistol cal AR uppers. He has already made plenty of DI uppers in every caliber the DDLES Glock lower offers. He originally started with the 45auto and expanded from there.

It’s the same upper I reviewed in this thread.

Since the upper receiver is a Vltor MUR-1A I ordered the Vltor lower to match. Just so it all matches, I bought a Gen4 G21 FDE too. It should be fun for the 2-gun pistol/rifle competitions.

I am working with a 10.5" DI 10mm upper from Ron williams, but with a CNC Gunsmithing AR45 lower using grease gun mags with the feed lips narrowed.

Finally shot it recently and was pleased with the upper. When the mags fed it right, it fired, extracted and ejected perfectly. Recoil was non-existent.

I used to have an Olympic Arms 16" blowback 10mm upper that I used with the GG mags and a Cav Arms lower with hahn mag block.

It was very reliable, but the build quality was less than optimal, and the firing impulse was too much even with factory 10mm ammo.

I still need to tweak the feed lips some to get 100% feeding , but this setup shows great promise. If I can get it to an acceptable level of reliability, I would like to do another with the DDLES lower and Glock mags.

Here’s a pic of mine, sorry for the thread derail, but the possibility of using mags designed for 10mm, along with the shooting characteristics of the DI upper, is exciting.

+1 on a 10mm carbine

Thanks for sharing the news

Anytime, yeah I’m pretty excited. Should be in soon. I plan on doing a real thorough review once it’s complete.

Yea I saw this the other day. Thinking hard about a 10mm sbr.

Looking forward to seeing a review on these from whoever has bought one.
