DDI Milled AK Wood Furniture Refinish

I bought my first AK, a DDI Milled lower AK. It came with the standard K var black furniture, but I wanted a more traditional look with still being able to use the AK with a two point tactical sling like the Vickers that I bought. I also wanted the ability to take the sling off and put it back on quickly. So, I bought some Polish surplus milled wood furniture and stripped it and fitted it. I also had the rear stock milled to inlet a Midwest industries push button sling swivel. Here are some before pics:

Here’s the after photos: I refinished the wood with Chestnut Ridge Military Walnut stain and then went over that with Birchwood Casey Tru oil. The inlaid rear push button sling swivel worked out very well. Since the stock is hollow, I wanted to make sure that the screws for the sling swivel would hold well, so I filled the inside of the stock with a two part epoxy after I ran the screws through, so there shouldn’t be any issue about strength. I also had the factory sling point on the bottom of the stock filled for a cleaner look since I wouldn’t be using it and instead using the push button rear sling attachment with my Vickers AK sling.

Looks great. Where did you pick up the surplus stock kit?
