Was looking at tail end sling mounts and found that DD & Tangodown offer mounts that require NO weapon disassembly. I am tired of the strap being right there at the back of my stock when i bring to weld.
I am thinking about this because i have a 6920 and am not sure i want to go through the process of restacking the receiver.
Does anybody have any thoughts on not just replacing the receiver plate? Would this route be just a versitile? OR Would it just be better to replace my stock completely with a CTR? However the CTR route will still leave the strap position close to face.
i think those types of sling mounts are really useful for folks who might not be allowed to modify their issue weapons. IMHO, for anyone else, you might as well swap out end plates. Once you get over the hump and do it the first time, you’ll see it’s not so bad!
Practically speaking, I shoot with my stock at the first notch, not sure if some of those mounts would leave enough room for that. For those who like their stocks all the way closed those mounts would interfere.
I had the DD version with the QD swivel receptacle on the sides and it works as advertised. In the end though, I ended up just replacing the end plate. The unit is bulky and I would often smash my hand on it when working the charging handle.
