dd m4 or colt 6920

in the market to replace my bushmaster, how does the dd m4 compare to the colt 6920,is it as good as the colt.

I am sure that someone will disagree, but I would take the DD over the Colt

I’d pick the DD since it’s already got some bells and whistles on it.

Both great rifles. I don’t think you could go wrong between these two choices. BCM wouldn’t be a bad choice either.

If it were me, I would consider the $250 Daniel Defense gift card that you get for purchasing a DD rifle.

They also have a lifetime warranty, which I don’t think Colt has.

I’ve dealt with their (Daniel Defense’s) CS before and they were very speedy and top notch, 100% satisfaction guaranteed.

Both will probably last you a lifetime, but you just never know.

Sure wish the “comparison” section of The Chart would be updated to give DD credit for their excellent rear sight and Lifetime Warranty.

I would defintiely go with the DD. Enhanced, flared magwell. Magpul triggerguard. Cold hammer forged barrell. An excellent rear BUIS as opposed to removing the (near useless) carry handle. Excellent rail. Vertical fore grip. My DDM4 has quickly become my go to carbine - and I have a few.

I just made this decision. DD has the excellent rear sight, flared magwell and a $250 gift card that pretty much covers a rail system if you want. No brainer, go with the DD, you won’t be sorry.

The DD is built to a high spec just like the Colt is…but it has some neat refinements that the 6920 does not have from the box.

The XV comes with an optics ready BUIS…an additional cost item on the 6920. They also come with a good Magpul stock and pistol grip…also commonly replaced items that will cost extra on the 6920. The M4 versions come with all of that plus a true free-float rail system that is superb…especially the longer rail that continues past the front sight base, which allows mounting a light like an X300 at 12:00…the best position for a light in many people’s opinion. The DD carbines also come with some improvements on the lower (like a reworked mag well for easier mag changes) that you won’t find on the Colt.

I like my 6920 a lot…but if the Daniel Defense carbines had been on the market when I bought my last 6920 I wouldn’t have purchased the Colt.

The Daniel Defense carbines offer all of the 6920’s good points at a lower price point (when you consider the add ons) AND have some really nice extras to boot. In my mind that’s a no-brainer.

Frankly right now with the existence of the BCM rifles offered by G&R and the Daniel Defense offerings I wouldn’t even look at a Colt.

Agreed.

Also agreed! I love my BCM which I pieced together right when the BCM lowers came out but before Grant offered the complete rifles, and I do not regret my decision one bit.

DDM4 all the way, you cant beat the package.

Personally, I would go with the Colt.

Colt, without a doubt.

I think it should depend on what you price can get a 6920 for.

Some gun stores still seem to be suffering the after-effects of the post-election gun buying frenzy.

So if they are still trying to sell 6920s for $1500, then go with the DDM4.

However, if you can score a good price on a 6920 (around $1250) then I’d get the Colt.

I’m sitting here looking at both weapons, and they are both great.
Both can be found for close to the same price right now.
But for me, the enhanced magwell , the enhanced trigger guard and most of all, the outstanding customer service that DD has swings the vote.

I’ve always been a Colt man, but right now though, the DD is as good or better in every aspect overall and a better value. YMMV

So would I  both are good choices but I really love my LE6920.

Both are excellent carbines. You get more for your money with the DD.

Goin’ with the 6920. Especially since I just picked one up. Colt is here to stay.

Whichever is cheaper

I would choose the DD XV over both of them if money mattered. I would then use the $250 gift certificate for an Omega rail.
