My DD Lite Rail has arrived. but barrel didn’t arrive yet. so in the mean time im inspecting the lite rail.
I understand that the collar prevents the rails from turning and twisting.
what prevents the collar from turning??? is it the barrel nut? it’s just being pressed?
The flange and the six screws keep the rail from turning on the barrel nut.
side note:
I set my torque wrench to 65 ft lbs on these DD Lite Rail/RIS II barrel nuts. I torque twice at 65ft lbs (break it lose between times), and then the third and final time at 70ft lbs. The barrel nut doesn’t have to align like it does on larger barrel nuts.
so basically the rails and the flange hold on the barrel nut.
they’re both sandwiching the barrel nut… so… what prevents the barrel nut from turning?
The same thing that keeps a standard barrel nut from turning, 70 ft-lbs of torque.
wont the threads of the reciever break from stress? 70lbs of torque?? the nut is steel right?
The spec is to not exceed 80 ft-lbs or something like that. You can find the manual online. gotm4 is not steering you wrong, I’d wager he’s built more uppers than you will in your lifetime.
nope… it was just a concern. if gotm4 says it’s ok then I guess it’s ok.
