What do we need to do to get Daniel Defense to get into the 300BLK game. DD makes a solid product, I have 2 so far. I’m heading to a Armor’s Course in the Spring and I really want a DD 300BLK Barrel to go with a DD upper and Omega 7 rail I have laying around. Maybe if we called on Mr. Vickers?
If DD made a limited run of 100, at a price point they could stand, I bet they would be gone by tomorrow.
That’s the problem. They cannot keep 5.56 rifles in stock so it does not really make a whole lot of business sense to them as much as I would like to see it.
I would be somewhat surprised if LAV would do a whole lot of pushing. Last time I talked to him (in June) he didn’t seem wildly excited about the round.
Send DD an email through their website and encourage them. I did so about two months ago. At that time they “had no plans.”
A limited run of 100 would make no sense for a hammer-forged barrel, since the cost is mostly in the tooling (mandrel and the machine) and the marginal cost is low once the tooling is made. A limited run of button-rifled barrels might be possible, but there are a number of other companies making quality button-rifled barrels for 300BLK, so I doubt it would make any sense for them as a business move, or for you as a purchaser.
What are you after? The DD gun, or the DD barrel? As was said, there are other quality 300blk barrels out there. Would you not be pleased with a DD gun rebarreled in 300blk?
This caliber is catching on fast, I’m sure DD will put something out for us someday.
I have a spare DD upper and bolt and just wanted to get a DD barrel in 300 to keep it all the same. Just a project I wanted to do myself.
