I was looking at the weights for these two barrels and noticed they are not far off.
DD Government 11.5 - 1.28lbs
BCM 11.5 lightweight - 1.2lbs
It seems like a lot of material was taken off for so little weight. Could these numbers be wrong?
Quoted weights aren’t always that precise.
For a 11.5" barrel, the total amount of weight removed is going to be less than that for a longer barrel.
The problem with the government profile is not so much the total weight, but where the weight is (i.e. near the muzzle end).
It was a mistake from the get go. All other things being equal, I’d get anything else - either the lightweight or a heavier profile.
