Friggin mayor will probably go to jail for fraud etc. and they prosecute a man for “attempted possession of unlawful ammunition”
In a surprising twist at the end of a long trial, a District of Columbia judge found Mark Witaschek guilty of “attempted possession of unlawful ammunition” for antique replica muzzleloader bullets.
Judge Robert Morin sentenced Mr. Witaschek to time served, a $50 fine and required him to enroll with the Metropolitan Police Department’s firearm offenders’ registry within 48 hours.
Few things, wtf is “attempted possession”. It would seem you either have them or you don’t. And isn’t a muzzle loader bullet just a hunk of lead? Are tire weights now going to be sketchy to have, fishing weights?
Again, I just don’t understand living in these hell holes. Job or not, fing move.
I wonder if anyone will take the time to ponder the fact that were in not for “citizens with muzzle loader bullets” there wouldn’t even be a Washington D.C.
I’d bet they all know that, but what does it matter now that we’ve really become civilized this time around?
The guy in the NJ lawmaker thread put it perfectly, most of our “leaders” have more trust in their government than they do in the people they represent. Yet those same people voted Obama twice so I don’t know what to expect anymore but more of the unexpected.
Lead and copper bullets, incapable of being propelled… He’s a firearm offender for possessing lead shot… Honestly, this needs to be appealed. This is the definition of lunacy. The man had a paperweight without the firearm to propel them.
The judge is quoted as saying (I am not kidding); “well, they look like bullets.” W T F
Well, I had better not take the kids fishing, remove the wheel weights from my vehicle…
Didn’t know lead was so dangerous. Jail time dangerous not toxic. Maybe that’s what they are aiming for. Nannystate and all. You can not be trusted. Adjust accordingly. As you were…
The judge seemed inclined to throw out this charge since he repeatedly asked how the bullets could be illegal if the gun that they go in was not.
During lunch, the government came up with a list from ATF of types of muzzleloader rifles that could be converted to use rimfire ammunition. Not that Mr. Witaschek owned one of these nor was modern ammo at issue in the trial.
