Day 1 of 2 Defensive Edge/SLR15 Armorer's Course

We completed day one of Sully’s two day AR15/M16 armorer’s course today. It was eight hours of some of the best classroom instruction I’ve had in a number of years. Sully covered the lower receiver today in very good detail, giving some good tips to make assembly and disassembly easier. I like the approach he uses of here is the more difficult way you may have to use in less than ideal conditions and here is the easier way if you buy a few tools to make life easier.
He’s not PC, but he doesn’t go out of his way to bash other products or individuals. He gives his opinion and let’s you make up your mind based on the data you collect. It’s also not a 3 day sales pitch for his rifles.
This is day two of three days of instruction. The first day was the Glock armorer’s course. Tomorrow is auto sears more trouble shooting the lower and then the upper receiver. I’ve been highly impressed with both his knowledge, easy going style and effectivness of his teaching style. I get bored easy and haven’t found myself off in my happy place once. If anyone is looking for an armorer’s course I highly recommend Sully. You won’t be disappointed.

Day two was just an good as the first day IMHO. We went through some more trouble shooting for the lower, auto sears and then went into the upper. He leaves no stone unturned. We did tore them down, build them up, re-barreled. Sully has a very good selection of various manufacturer’s parts so you can compare them side by side. It was a real eye opener to see some of the stuff being put into guns as well as a few different lowers and uppers.
If you’re looking for an AR15/M16 armorer’s course I highly recommend this one. It was money and time well spent.

Thanks for the info. Did you barrel uppers? Remove FSB’s? Remove ejectors?

Yep, we took every thing down to the most basic component a minimum of 2 times we tore down and built up the lowers a minimum of 5 times. The only part that we did once was the A2 sight. Sully also had a good supply of springs and other various small parts so guys could replace worn parts or for when a spring got shot across the room and couldn’t be found.

Good! Too many armorer courses neglect proper barrel installation.
