Lately when i have tried to move from page to page on this site i have been encountering a “Database Error” page. I am not very computer savy so is this a problem with M4C or something on my end?
"Database error
The database has encountered a problem.
Please try the following: •Load the page again by clicking the Refresh button in your web browser.
•Open the www.m4carbine.net home page, then try to open another page.
•Click the Back button to try another link.
The www.m4carbine.net forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists.
The forum is about to undergo some upgrades and changes to alleviate some of the problems we’ve all been experiencing. If the site is down from time to time this week, you’ll know why.
good to know. i had been wondering about this myself over the past week or so. been having the database errors and the site being slow in general, then had the same thing on another computer.
To piggyback on this thread, I cannot open any thread by clicking the title. It gives me a timeout error. However, if I click the “go to last post” button or if it is a multiple page thread and I click the number of one of the subsequent pages, it opens just fine.
Strange!
I wondered if it was a Vbulletin issue because there is another forum I use that is having the same issue.
It’s not uncommon for a large vBulletin system to back up or rebuild its database on a daily basis then restore. I suspect that’s what the early morning unavailability is about.
Yeah, I’m working on reducing the size of the database and optimizing the server for it. We’re close to implementing the big changes. If you see the site down for maintenance, visit the sponsor websites and know that it’ll be all better soon.
Also, a heads up… when you see the Gateway timeout error, that’s an issue with the web host that will clear up in the next few days too. That’s not something I’m doing to bring down the site.
