Darwin at it again.

Seven die in Bangkok explosion after scrap metal dealers try to dismantle WWII bomb with a BLOWTORCH

As they say, stupid hurts lol

brilliant

Thailand never should have joined the Axis.

“Here, hold my beer. I’ll show you guys how it’s done.”

Haha. True.

Wow those pictures are insane. Blew that shop apart. I wonder how they count the victims? Im betting the guys right next to the bomb aren’t quite intact anymore.

This sounds inspired by Wile E. Coyote.

I normally dont find humor in these situations but:

Hard to believe that many people thought this was a good idea…

Welcome to impoverished Third World countries.

I’ve been on a live fire range, firing LAW’s and 81mm mortars, and watched Thai children run out of the brush to grab shrapnel that was still hot. A buddy that was a FMF Corpsman was decorated with a Navy and Marine Corps Medal for lifesaving, when some kids got blown up doing that.

They want the metal to sell. The explosives and the danger are the price of doing business. It might seem insane to you, but they are feeding their families.

I’m not calling anybody out in this thread. Just pointing out that they live in a completely different world than a lot of the people on this website. If you have not lived there and seen it, it might seem alien to you.

And by the way, it is a bitch trying to sew up the stump of a kid’s legs under a Coleman lantern that is running out of kerosene.

Stepping off my soapbox now, and returning you to your regularly scheduled program, already in progress.

What im thinking, is: did they think that being an old bomb it wouldn’t blow up?

They assumed and or were told it was inert without verifying it before they went hog wild with the cutting torch would be my guess.

count the legs, divide by 2!

Things were made with quality back then.

Reminds me of the German road constructions guys. They ended up unearthing a 500 lbs bomb left over from WWII with an earth mover. So did they call the police right then? Nope, taped it off and kept working. Reasoning? “It hasn’t gone off for 65 years, what’s another six hours?”

Thank you, really needed the laugh.

I’d feel better if it were some Al Keeter Terrorizors.

It’s not the first time it’s happened, and won’t be the last. These people are in poverty, and not the American “fat with a flat screen in gov’t housing” kind of poverty.
