What’s your opinions? DDm4v1LW or DDm4v1

Can’t go wrong with either but I would prefer the LW myself. In the current market, I would honestly get what ever I could get a better price on and more importantly what ever I could get sooner.

I have a V3 LW and BCM LW and like them a lot. Also have a 16" gov’t profile and there is a difference. A few ounces off the muzzle end is noticeable and desirable.

you can get either? or is this just wishful thinking?

what other guns do you have? if you don’t have a LW, I think it’s worth it…

LW all the way…super balanced rifle and accurate…I love it… DDM4V1LW…thats a mouthful

where are you finding both of these rifles???

Four ounce difference in weight between both.

If you want a lighter barrel then go for it. If you’re not concerned with weight then get the heavier barrel.

The truth of the matter is that very few of us actually need the heavier profile barrels but for the sake of balance tend to go with them when selecting heavier stocks.

The bottom line is that you CANNOT go wrong with DD so buy either with confidence.

Just FYI, some dealers have great distributors…I personally found mine two weeks hanging on a wall

I have a V1LW and a V5. Either way you go you will be very happy.

Unless you expect genuinely hard use, the advantage seems to be to the lightweight package.

Helps to hold the piece before purchase to know for sure the balance works for you, but there are aftermarket ways around that.

General question: Does anyone notice an appreciable difference in recoil in the lightweight barrels?

I honestly cant tell a difference…but to me…I am more on target than ever before (not bench shooting) because it is so much more balanced…it is kind of crazy how some ounces off the front end make such a big difference

DDm4v1

Great rifles, I have a V1 and a V7 and have had no issues with mine.

I do however have a friend who purchased a new V1 in late October. We took it out to the range and could not zero the rifle. He spoke to CS rep in early December. He was told some one would call him back with an RMA and to send the top half in. He suspected there is an issue with the barrel. That was the last time anyone spoke to him.

Chances are you will get a great rifle, just beware if not, you might be left to fend for yourself.

Tell your friend to try and call DD again and talk to Chris Jolly…he has been a great help anytime I had an issue (which was only twice. I misplaced some set screws for my rail and the other time is when somehow my DD shipped with a magpul rear sight vs DD 1.5). FYI be prepared to hold for a little while before someone answers…they are going crazy with phone calls right now

This was right around the time of the Market swamp and they may have gotten busy. Has he tried contacting them instead of just waiting? Might want to be careful what you say about reputable manufacturers around here. I know several people during that time period through now have had a hard time getting in contact with them for any issues, but DD has handled the issues as they come across time to work with them seeing as how they are swamped with production.

He has beem more than patient. He has yet to be able to contact anyone at DD for the last 5-6 weeks. Give them a call tommorow, you will be placed on hold via the automated attendant, then prompted to leave a msg.

I am not trying to bash anyone here, especially a well known ar builder, I think they make a superior product. For some reason or another they are severly lacking in customer service right now.
Probably because of the current state of “panic”, thats still no excuse to ignore a customer who has purchased your product.

Stay on the phone…I just called them today…when I called they had 60 people literally waiting in line after me to be answered…

Did you order a rifle?

Just before this current round of non-sense I ordered 4 light weight barreled complete uppers from DD. Talk about good timing… I consistently get 10 ounces difference from my gov. profile barrels. Because that 10 ounces is way out at the front of the barrel, I can really feel the difference when shouldering the rifle, changing positions or when doing right or left transitions from shoulder to shoulder. It is very noticeable to me. I don’t think I’ll ever buy another gov. profile barrel again.

I spoke with DD at the SHOT show. The are still taking orders and building guns as fast as they can, but the wait time is significantly longer than it was a couple of months ago. My friend there told me that one day he timed it and there was never more than 12 seconds between the calls coming in. He had to simply stop answering it or he could get nothing done. He told me not to bother to call and instead email. Like every company, they are swamped and doing their best, and their best is quite a bit better than their competitors. Both LaRue and LMT told me that if I ordered a gun that day, I wouldn’t receive it until sometime in 2014.
