Or should I go with the DD that’s a little cheaper? https://danieldefense.com/lower-receiver-parts-kit-semi-auto.html
And most likely this will be a build as the money comes slowly I’ve read a lot on DD I like what I’ve read I figured the best way for me to get one is build. Thanks for all y’all’s input.
Just go with the LPK you want. I went with a standard mil-spec lpk since I was knew I was going to change out the trigger group anyway (tossed in a Geissele S-DC). Try to see if you can have a mod move this into AR General and fish for some information on the RRA 2-stage if that’s what you are going for. The DD is just a mil-spec trigger so they are kinda all over the place in terms of smoothness.
Well if an admin could move this that be great this tapatalk app is stupid.
I just didn’t know if there was much of a difference between the 2 on quality and if the pricing with the 2 stage is worth the extra money.
Thanks
Having personally had issues with the rra two stage as well as seen others have issues i would recommend staying away. Go with a Geissele if you want an aftermarket two stage.
Of the two LPK’s I’d say go with DD over rra, but I would buy G&R’s over both or look at the White Oak Armament as well.
I too would pick the DD of those two, but I’ve had really good luck with (GASP) Spikes lowers! I wouldn’t mess around with the RRA 2 stage when the G-Triggers are so well known and nearly universally recommended.
Stay away from the RRA 2 Stage trigger. There is enough first hand experience from SMEs and other hard use shooters to suggest that they become non functional or have serious issues by around 1000 rounds.
I too have had issues with the RRA NM trigger - to be honest it wasn’t that great even before it started functioning incorrectly. I’d go with G&R/WOA/DD/Colt and the Geissele G2S trigger; I’d go with a Spike’s or CMMG LPK and G2S over anything with the RRA 2-Stage.
The G&R units are a mix - a fair bit of LMT parts, and some others, but those are really good sets. The only other stuff Grant carries are Colt ones; I have 5 G&R LPK’s, and run them on my super-gucci rifles. The other one on my high-end stuff is a WOA LPK I got through ADCO, and it’s really quite good.
G&R and White Oak Armory both offer lower parts kits without a mil-spec fire control group. They either give you choices for a FCG, or you can purchase one elsewhere. G&R’s LPK used to be a mix of mostly LMT parts, but they now offer Colt lower parts without a FCG. I just used part of an older kit from G&R and it fit great and gives me complete confidence. I had added an ALG QMS back when I purchased it, but used a Geissele trigger instead. I also have lower parts from WOA, but I have not used them, yet.
I prefer a lower parts kit without a FCG, because I already have enough mil-spec triggers laying around. Once you go Geissele, you will not want to use anything else. They are that good.
If the RR is cheaper and you’re gonna toss the fcg anyway… It ain’t a bad lower at all. I always liked the no-bs RR rollmarks and their finish is a nice flat color.
DD has some issues with the lower being over cut behind the grip leaving a small gap with some grips.
Or just get an LMT L7 complete lower. Very hard to beat for the price, and for a bit more their 2 stage is quite good. I’d rather have geissele if retrofitting, but for an OEM trigger its worth the upgrade cost
Again I’m new. im leaning toward the DD Lpk for 100$ I know DD is good quality but are any of the other same quality or better for less? I got on G&R and see I can mix and match but I wouldn’t know what to change that would be better for 100$ on it.
As you said this will be your first build can I also assume you have very little experience with the platform as well? If so I’m going to recommend the DD LPK because it is good quality and has a mil spec trigger. Use that for a couple thousand rounds then upgrade to a better trigger once you know why you’re upgrading. Don’t go buy a high end trigger because someone said it’s better than XYZ, you get a better trigger because you learned what you don’t like about the mil spec trigger and your ability has progressed past what that trigger can provide.
