I just ordered a DD Mk18 RIS-2 and the barrel nut wrench. I am planning on a new upper being put together for a current build. Just accruing parts right now and am having a difficult time finding lower parts kits right now (like everyone else). I was fortunate to snag two BCM bolt groups and two BCM M4 uppers (sans barrels).
Pics to come once the Mk18 RIS-2 arrives.
Here are the component choices thus far:
SABRE lower
BCM upper (less barrel)
DD Mk18 RIS-2 fore end
BCM bolt group
LMT SOPMOD buttstock
Aimpoint ML3 in LaRue mount
Knights Armament ambi mag release
Troy flip-up front and rear sights
What I still need:
Barrel.
Lower parts kit.
I think I will pick up a Knights or Troy singlepoint sling mount for the receiver endplate.
Well, I decided to tear down my trusty LMT 10.5 inch upper and place the Mk18 RIS-2 on it. I had previously been running this upper with a Knights RAS-2, LMT fixed rear buis, and Deiter CQD chopped vertical foregrip.
Today I pulled the barrel and gasblock (a bitch due to all the carbon buildup from copious fullauto fire), chopped the front sight off the gasblock, and gave the barrel and upper a detailed cleaning/degreasing.
Next up I will contour the gasblock and have a buddy bead blast and re-park it for me. Then the assembly begins. I hope to finish it this week.
I really like the Mk18 RIS-2, without a doubt my favorite rail system. I do wish DD would put integral QD sling swivel points in the rail, but that is a minor point. Still no pics, sorry guys…need to FIND my camera.
Another Mk18 will be heading my way soon to go on the Noveske 10.5 inch upper I bought from Bravo Co. I think this upper will take the place of the Colt M4 SOCOM heavy barreled upper I have sitting on my M16.
