Daniel Defense M4 barrels at midway usa

Anybody know anything about these barrels at midway? Says they are chrome lined M4 profile by daniel defense.

Just a guess here but given my experiences with DD and their products I would think this is a good barrel. And I’ll betcha it’s got a 5.56, not a .223, chamber.

Wow, that is the cheapest I have seen an Ar barrell in a LONG time.

Read further down
Chambered in 5.56x45 NATO for full compatibility with surplus ammunition.

It has no FSB

According to this thread, that statement doesn’t mean much, as many barrels are marked 5.56 and are not cut to a true 5.56 specification.

just talked to the guys at daniel defense. They said that the barrels do have 5.56 chambers, but this is the last of this type of barrel. from now on, they will only be hammer forged barrels.

they bought the old stock

The price on those barrels is pretty good.

But if you decide that you want a Cold Mammer Forged Barrel with the FSB already in place this is the only place I found.

If you’re a gunsmith/ experience builder, then this may not apply to you. I have been looking around for Daniel Defense components to assemble an upper (with CHF Barrel), but when I added everything up it comes close to just purchasing an assembled upper (test/ functioned fired).

In my area, I have already seen the complete basic DD M4 for just over a grand. Prices are finally starting to drop. I may just end-up buying the complete rifle and modify later with the specific parts I prefer.

Something to consider, best of luck.

SkiDevil

well, i bought one. we’ll see when i get it. the dude at midway said they only have 40 of them left.

Question
Do the recent DDM4s come with hammer forged barrels?

thanks for your time

Bill

I believe so - that’s why they sold these at this price to Midway - to clear out the old inventory.

Actually you took that whole thread out of context. We have discussed Daniel Defense here before and we know that produce their stuff within spec.

I keep checking this thread to see if they’ve sold out yet. seems like a steal…

I realize this is a bit off topic and my sincere apologies if I hijacked this thread

Here is my correspondence with DD:

My question to DD was this:

Do recent DD rifles have cold hammer forged barrel?

[b][i]Bill,

Thank you for your interest in Daniel Defense. As a matter of fact all Daniel Defense rifles feature a cold hammer forged barrel.

I am just looking for some clairification. The iniatial DD rifle were not advertised as having HF barrels. The more receint listing say HF barrels. Does that mean that that the first ones were not HF and their new stuff is? If so then maybe these barrels are older stock non-HF ones?
-Again not trying to start any rumors just looking for clairifacation.

-Even if not HF, DD makes good stuff, I think these are priced well.

Can’t comment on whether or not the Midway barrels are CHF, but you are correct in that the first DDM4’s did NOT have CHF barrels. ALL current DD rifles DO!

Well I for one could not pass up on the opportunity. I had been pondering a 6.8 build as I already had 2 other M4’s already. I ordered one this past week and received it on friday. When I asked DD about the barrels I was told that the $179 barrels are the cut rifling. Midway also has the cold hammer forged barrels available.
The Barrel is marked " DD 4150 MP 5.56 Nato 1:7 " They are chrome lined with M4 ramps. The finish on them is very nice. I can’t wait for the rest of my small parts to show up so I can put this bad boy together. The range reports that I have read on the early DD M4’s show that they are very accurate barrel.

Thanks for the feedback, I’m waiting for mine to show up. I’m thinking this barrel mated with a BCM m4 upper will be pretty sweet.

I received my barrel today. looks very nice. I will post a AAR after I get it built and shot, but on first impression, I think this is a real steal at this price. My only issue is that it is not “notched” for a pin on front sight base, so I’ll either have to have that done, or just use a clamp on base. Otherwise, it looks really good. I have assembled uppers with dpms, bushmaster, oly, Wilson, and ER shaw barrels, and this appears to be far and above nicer.
